Heyy! I'ts been quite a while, I usually don't post a lot here besides art, just wanted to give a little update since i've been really busy irl
first of all, I just finally graduated!! and second but happened earlier, I finally got a job too, which has definitely kept me busy from making new art, so it's been going slower, but that doesn't mean I won't be posting anymore, just so you know, stuff could be coming soon 👀
I've been having some ideas to draw and show here outside of Sonic, but now I've been really busy lately irl, but hopefully I can show something soon-ish
Meet Jackson & Holt's parents: Dr. Vidya Jekyll/Edna Hyde & Argus Burns!
I'm so excited to finally showcase my own designs for g3 Jackson & Holt's parents, I have so much fun coming up with not only their designs but also their backstories as well.
Didn't give them fun logo names like their kid, but instead wanted to give it a bit of a very vague paperwork like vibe, showing how each would write their names and also gave them signatures for fun.
I'm writing down after the cut their info in more detail, so in case you want to know more about them, go on keep reading 👀
DISCLAIMER: there might be some deviations on the g3 lore of Monster High with what I'm writing on the characters, specially if more lore comes up in new episodes and what, think of it as a sort of semi-AU
Starting with the mother, Vidya is the daughter or the original Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, just like her father, she inherited the Hyde transformation, turning into Edna Hyde. Vidya is the "calm and collected" of the duo, always trying to think first before doing something, Edna meanwhile is the more impulsive one, sometimes not mincing her words when it is necessary.
Argus Burns is a fire elemental and father of the half human-monster teen Jackson/Holt. He is a distant relative of Hades (although nobody is actually sure in what way or IF they're even related, Argus is still treated as family, being referred by others as Cousin or Uncle), Argus also loves cooking, specially for others, which why he'd later have a restaurant of his own, his son also likes to help him whenever he visits Argus on the weekends.
Vidya doesn't really have very good memories of her time studying at Monster High when she was younger, a time where she was still trying to manage her Hyde form, specially in a place where humans weren't welcome. When she wasn't being the "cooler" Edna in front of her classmates, she'd have to run and hide in either the forest surrounding the lot or secret rooms the monstrous boarding school had to avoid Vidya being seen by anyone.
Possibly the only monster who has not only seen Edna's human form, but has also helped her in keeping the secret was Argus, confiding on this secret that later evolved into a relationship of many years which gave birth to Jackson until their break up. Despite their break up, both parents became committed to co-parent Jackson, with him living in the human world with Vidya and visiting Argus on the weekends.
Things would change when a few months ago, Jackson started also transforming on his Hyde form, Holt, for the first time. Vidya/Edna was the most scared of the parents, afraid that her son could get the same fate she did of having to hide a part of themselves from others. Argus tried to convince her that Monster High is starting to change, as he heard that a half human werewolf was already studying there for a while now, that this could be an opportunity for Jackson & Holt to be themselves.
Hesitant at first, Vidya understands how this is the best for their son, letting them to get transferred to Monster High, but she still might be protective with her kid on the first days.
These new changes to their life have made her to slowly also come to terms with being herself with other monsters as Vidya, outside of the comfort and security of her home. Also some feelings for Argus, and viceversa, that seemed to have been buried for almost a decade could seemingly be resurfacing along w these new changes in their lives...
Was not expecting many people be interested in my monster high designs lol, but glad you all are.
Here are some very quick doodles I did, with some headcanons I have for Jackson and Holt.
I'm thinking that Jackson got his Hyde form fairly recently, a few months maybe, so he and his mother move to Clawdeen's town to be close to Monster High. And coincidentally, the Jekyll family are also the Wolf's new neighbors.
Clawdeen and Jackson quickly become friends, both excited to know there's another half human-monster like them, so Clawdeen takes Jackson/Holt under her wing (or paw?) with helping them getting used to the new school. (and also they'd definitely be Roblox buddies c'mon)
Out of character maybe for Heath, but I'm thinking their relationship being a bit strange at first. Heath just recently knew he not only had a half human cousin, but said cousin was now being transferred to Monster High as well. It is not after he gets to meet better Holt and Jackson that they become closer friends/cousins, getting sometimes to goof around together.
And lastly I like to hc Holt sometimes doing streams on EekTok of him DJ'ing, Jackson also likes to record himself playing the piano but less frequent than Holt. Holt also dabbles into just doing shitposty mixes (think of like DJ Mandy on TikTok)
