ok so basically in the original post i was pointing out that the teacher was implying that girl should be able to cook as a basic skill and it’s really impressive for guys. everyone should be able to cook and being able to make a simple meal shouldn’t be impressive (if someone can cook really well absolutely be impressed).

Ok right sorry. The reason I got into that stupid mess with everyone replying to that post rust blew up was because I’d replied to something from a Trump supporter (as many others had) and this guy went and scrolled through my page to find anything to attack me about, which is why I was initially being rude and leaving like three word answers. When other people started seeing the post i had to start explaining myself to them. ive experiences far more sexism than someone my age should have which is why i pick up on the slightest hint of it. Since then ive been really on edge because my page was crawling with these people who refused to take the time to try to understand what I was saying, instead just calling me slurs because apparently that’s a really good argument now.

No, it was that he was implying women should be able to cook as a bare minimum but that it’s really special and SO impressive when a man can. Yes he was encouraging both genders to cook, but only because he needed everyone in the class to do work.

It’s my fault I didn’t make it clear in my initial post that that was the issue. I think just because he was a really sexiest teacher who said a lot of sexists things to girls and made them very uncomfortable that it didn’t occur to me that the issue wouldn’t be obvious to everyone.

The words you have written do not convey that in the least. They are normal words describing couples doing thoughtful things for each other, and you are twisting them into what you want them to be so that you can be angry about it. The only other option is that he didn't say those words and said something different that actually was sexist, instead of what you wrote which was a cute little aside about loving couples that your paranoia has turned into an attack on all women.

I’ve said a lot about this in other replies. I was referring the implication that women should be able to cook as a basic skill and men being able to cook is really impressive. People being able to cook a good meal isn’t sexiest. Everyone should be able to cook. If you’re able to cook really well that should be impressive but it shouldn’t be impressive because of gender.

I’d also mentioned a few time that this teacher was really sexist anyway so even if the issue isn’t blatantly obvious to everyone there was an issue anyway.

Okay, but... Nothing about this quote implies that women should be able to cook as basic skill... Like the latter statement towards men, it is appealing towards pleasing any possible romantic prospects as a motivation to learn to cook. Him being sexist in other areas doesn't really erase that the implication you're talking about isn't being implied here.

Also, as someone with cooks in real life, yeah, both sexes should learn to cook. It's a basic skill. And quite a lot of know how to cook. In fact, it's a bit of a misconception that most men can't cook. I know a lot of men who are amazing cooks. There are many, obviously, who aren't, and the common thread between the male bad cooks, in my experience, is laziness.

And the same can be said for female cooks. The bad ones are lazy, the good ones have great work ethic. Contrary to sexist views on race, I've even met more men who are able to wash dishes properly than I have women. 🤣 It's honestly kinda funny to me that we cling to this notion that men can't do these things and women all somehow universally are able to do them.
