Is it a date? LOL! It’s not a date.
It’s a presentation rule! Here is what it stands for:
10: Should have ten (10) slides
20: Last no more than twenty (20) minutes
30: Contain no font smaller than thirty (30) points
Remember that when you’re about to do a presentation! :)
Presenting
A good presentation flows perfectly. Agree with that?
A presentation always have 3 parts. Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. When the presenter follows that order, I can say that it’s a good presentation. But it’s not just that.
When you’re presenting, you’re actually trying to tell something to other people. That means, there should be interactions. Involve the audience when you’re presenting by simply ask them to read what’s in the slide, or ask their opinion about the topic. It is important to gain the audience’s attention.
If they’ve given you their attention, then you (as a presenter) should show them that you’re also giving them your attention by making eye contact. Do not just read what’s on you slide, or read your notes. While you’re presenting, look at them (not each one of them. lol.) So they can really feel that you’re talking to them. Other than that, you should also use body language. Don’t just stand at the center of the stage, move to left, then go right. Use your hand movement while you’re talking. It shows that you’re sure with what you said.
One of the ways to attract the audience attention is by creating a good and attractive presentation. Do not just put slides full of words. They won’t even read it all. Insert some charts, pictures, or maybe videos.
The most important thing is... rehearse! Do some practice before the D day so that you won’t be too nervous. At least you can know what you want to say and which slide comes next.
BE A GOOD PRESENTER!
Google Doc
Google Doc! Where group assignments became way more easier. A few weeks ago, I should make a report about the use of tablet in business. The bad news is... it’s a group work. It’s not about whom I’m working with but working in group is always something bad for me. Group work sometimes won’t work because there’s not much communication between the members. Especially if they live far away from one to another. And we can all know the ending...
It always ends up with only 1 member of the group doing the whole thing! And I’m always that “1 member”. Fair enough to say that I don’t really like doing things in a group.
But there is something different this time. I can say that, my mind suddenly changed when my lecturer introduce GoogleDoc! It is a web-based documents. So it is connected to the internet. The document is stored online, and you can open it with any computers (you should log in to your email first).
Honestly, I don’t care with the other features of it. When I knew that all the members can access the document, I feel relieved.
It helps me a lot to keep in contact with the other group members. We can just add all the information that we have in the GoogleDoc. All of us have the right to edit or add some more information. We don’t need to send files to one of the group member, then ask that person to combine all the different information into one document. That is obsolete!
If you have any group assignments, directly use GoogleDoc!

Drawing in Words Document
If we can make charts in spreadsheet, we can also make something fantastic in word document. Have you read the title? Yes! I know! We can draw. Hmm... But wait. Not a real drawing. But just a simple one. Using Shapes, Arrow, and Lines. These are some of the examples (I created them last week :P )
Quite good right? You can make the same thing to if you want. Just:
1. Open your Word document
2. Select the Insert tab
3. Select Shapes
4. Choose whatever you want!
It is as SIMPLE as that ! Go ahead and have a try! Create your own drawings!
Charts with Spreadsheet!
When you think that spreadsheet is all about numbers, well you’re right. A bit. You might say that because you haven’t heard about Charts! Yes! Spreadsheet is more than just numbers.
It is really useful if you’re going to do a presentation showing statistic and everything. You won’t just let them see the numbers. They won’t pay attention to you. So to avoid that, here comes the Charts!
There are so many types of chart that you can choose to present your statistic data. Here’s the simpele steps of making a chart:
1. Select your table of data.
2. Click the Insert tab, and you can just choose which chart type that you want.
3. It’s done.
You can also change the color of your chart. Simply by clicking the Chart tools, then click Design. There are some choices of color.

Another Thing About Spreadsheet!
There is another formula that I got from class. It’s VLOOKUP!
Have you ever heard about it? Nahh me neither. Well it’s a formula that actually retrieve specific data from a database or table. We can look for a specific value from another table.
=VLOOKUP(lookup_value, lookup_table_range, column, exact)
VLOOKUP() works by taking the value you are looking up (lookup_value) and looking for it in the first column of the table you are searching in (lookup_table_range).
We did a practice during class. We need to do a student grading.
Here’s a picture of it!
To finally give the grade (A-F), there are some criteria of score and it is all in the Grading Table sheet. While I need to put the grades in the Student Grading Sheet. Instead I click from one sheet to another sheet again and again for 10 times (because there are 10 students) , I use the VLOOKUP formula. I can get the grades automatically done for me. That’s what a magic actually is!

Spreadsheet Formula
The last time I learn about spreadsheet was when I'm in grade 7, or 8. Junior High School! So yeah, it's a long time ago. I still remember some of the formulas, but not all.
I'm so happy that I can learn this again. As I'm majoring in accounting, spreadsheet will be my best friend, and will always be together forever, and ever. Okay that's too much!
Below are the really important main things that you need to know about spreadsheet :
1) What we should remember when we're about to input a formula is to put the equal sign. Yes, = sign! No matter how perfect your formula is, it won't work without the equal sign in the beginning.
2) You can use:
"+" to add
"-" to subtract
"*" to multiply
"/" to divide
3) We're not reading a manga comic or all the similar things to that. So, we're not doing it from the right to left. When we're working with spreadsheet, everything is from the left to the right. Don't forget!
4) Even though your formula is using two or more lines in the paper, but when it goes to spreadsheet, it can only be written on one line.
5) Spreadsheet is not a human that you can talk to. So, make sure that you state everything. When you want to multiply 3 with b, you can't write 3b. It must be written as 3 * b. As "*" sign is to multiply.
6) When you need to deal with area of a circle, and you need a pi, you can simply type PI() and you'll get what you need!

Document Formatting
AND AGAINNNNN! I always learn something new whenever I attend the Information Class.
This time is about document formatting. Do you know that you can format your writing easily in Microsoft Word? I know you don't. Well, we all could! With the help of STYLES!
Some of the benefits that I can get if I use styles:
-Time efficiency :
I'm serious! If you do it one by one (old way),
it's gonna take 1-2 hours, even more!
If you did something wrong, or you're not satisfied and you redo everything.
-Look more tidy:
You'll be proud of yourself! You will feel like a professional.
So... Try! You won't regret!
Academic Writing
During high school times, I always have problem when my teacher asked me to search about something, and only gave me one single question, but i need to write more than 500 words.
But now....
NO MORE! HIP HIP HURAY!
Now I know that actually, even though there is only one simple question, it can be broken down. I just need to know the keywords from the question, and make an outline. By creating an outline, I can know what are things that I need to search. After making the outline, I can start brainstorming the ideas, and finally collect the information.
No more boring writings! Starting from now on, I can write something in a better way, with much more information in it. And for sure, I'm not gonna make my readers bored!
Evaluating and Using Information
When we're searching for information, it is important to know that you're sources are all credible, and are all professional sources, especially websites. If it's a professional website, usually other websites link to their page.
There are a few ways to know how valuable your source is:
-Is the author's name, organization's name, or publisher's name supplied ?
-Are they accurate? Are they giving facts or just opinions?
-Is the publication date available? And is it updated?
-Are the links on that page active or dead?
It is important to know that you're not getting the wrong information. And to make sure that you get a good source. Especially if you're doing an assignment, or an essay.
Google Scholar & EndNote
And again...
I don’t know that such a helpful software like EndNote exist. I’ve never heard about it. And the same thing with google scholar.
In class, we practiced how to use Google Scholar and EndNote. Too bad, my laptop doesn’t have Microsoft Office. I only have Kingsoft, which is not connected to EndNote. So I use the computer in the Business Building. Finally, I can still feel the use of Google Scholar and End Note. It was really easy, and it helps me a lot, as a student to reference my sources for college task. I wish I knew this before, back when I was in High School.
I’m amazed with what a Google Scholar and EndNote can do. They are connected. I can do some settings in Google Scholar, so there will be a link, which when I click it, it sends my sources directly to EndNote. And what is more amazing, I can input my source reference to my document in Microsoft Word easily, with the help of EndNote. I couldn’t ask for more! I will no longer waste my time doing references.
Thanks to EndNote, I know how to do referencing professionally!
I know that this is a really late post. Talking about my Information Class one month ago.
All I know about google, is that I can search something there. Not more than that. But I never knew that there are so many google tricks that can help me to get the best answer for what I’m looking for. Well, my credit goes to Google Support.
