Why Chad Future Needs to Just Go Away
First off, let me make a couple things clear: I have NO problem with someone American and/or white being a kpop artist, or a person of any other race/color/nationality for that matter. I also do not hate Chad and am not going to bully him and wish that he would die…. HOWEVER he needs to STOP trying to “bridge the gap between American pop and Kpop” or whatever the heck he’s trying to do, and he does NOT qualify as a “Kpop artist” for these reasons:
-He can not speak Korean fluently, not even close (his pronunciation also sucks). In fact, I think I am at a higher level of Korean than he is… and I’m not even trying to be a “kpop idol”… so… You might say “But what about other kpop idols who weren’t fluent when they were signed!” No, they weren’t, but they SANG in Korean because their company gave them songs in Korean. Kpop is pop music IN KOREAN. Yes, it has other qualities that make it unique, but being in the Korean language is a necessity. Otherwise, it’s just pop.
-Chad DOESN’T even live in Korea and I don’t even think he’s been there very many times??? How can you be a Kpop artist if you’ve never even thoroughly experienced the country the music originates from?
-CHAD ISN’T FAMOUS. He’s barely even youtube famous. *NO ONE* in America knows who he is but some kpop fans (who mostly dislike him). NO ONE IN KOREA HAS ANY IDEA WHO HE IS. He is a nobody. 15 YEAR OLD BEAUTY GURUS ON YOUTUBE HAVE MORE FANS THAN HE DOES. What gives him any right to say he can bring Kpop to America if he has zero influence??! Why is Jellyfish using him if he’s NOT going to help VIXX AT ALL because no one but American kpop fans who hate him (and already know about VIXX) are going to hear his music anyway???
-He isn’t that talented. His covers are just okay. His rapping is extremely average. His lyrics are mehhh; they don’t flow well nor have much impact for the listener. A lot of his background tracks are just the instrumental tracks released by different groups. There are lots of other cover artists doing English versions of kpop songs on youtube who deserve to be “kpop idols” WAY more than he ever will because they are more talented.
And lastly…
-A rich, completely unknown, average-at-best-artist who can barely speak Korean should NOT be bringing Kpop to America in the first place. A talented, hardworking, well known Kpop artist should. Like CL, for example. Why? Because THAT is some of the best Kpop has to offer and America will be able to recognize it. Chad makes Kpop look like a joke.
Also -His hair is horrible. Please get a new style, Chad. Just putting that out there.
All being said, if Chad really wanted to be a kpop idol he would just audition for a company. But no, he hasn’t because he doesn’t really care about music or performing. To him, Kpop is just the next “new cool thing” he thinks he can capitalize off of. He wants to use it for his own good. If he truly cared about music and Korea, he would just audition for a company, or move to Korea and get involved in the underground scene, not start a youtube channel and pretend to be famous.
