How colouring evolution has changed the look of altered one of the classic Robin kidnapping scenes, and not really for the better, truh be told.

On the left, the original 1971 from Batman 232, “The Daughter of the Demon”… on the right, the 2016 digital release

The kidnappers upgraded to LED torches and a colour camera at some point.it would seem. (I mean, a colour snap of a kidnapped Robin IS nice, but at the cost of a lot of the comic equivalent of lens flare and uncanny valley with the rest of it.

I have so many thoughts on digitizing and recolouring of comics. Coloring digitally is an art that not all artist are good at. I have so much respect for really good digital colorist. In the hands of a better colorist these pages could have looked so great, or it should just have been digitized. Personally I love the crispness of digitized vintage comic colors.
