Question: the species lore (there'll be playable species, right?) will be rich? None of the Vampire-Diaries-themed knockoffs they're all over the place right? For me good creature lore really sets the tone.

hello! there will be both playable and non-playable species on the site, with plenty of lore, some of which will be open-ended so that members can do what feels best for their characters. in this setting, magic–and curses–can cause a lot of variation, so i hope members will feel comfortable running with their ideas!

hope this helps – species lore should be coming soon, but i (vesper) injured my wrist and thing have been a little slow-going. if you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to send an ask!

hi! v interesting idea. will this be british isles-centric when it comes to drawing inspiration for the setting?

hey anon! this is a great question, and also one that has a slightly involved answer.

in terms of the literal setting, the world has multiple provinces, and of course not every single one will be british isles/european centric. some of the provinces have aspects with no real world equivalent that i know of. for example, there is one province half eaten by darkness, where nothing grows and there is no light, due to corrupted magic.

in terms of the folklore i’m using, i’m trying to find common themes across multiple cultures, e. g. a lot of cultures have vampire-esque creatures, a lot of cultures have trickster spirits. while most of my knowledge of fairytales & folklore is european, i’d like for the site to not exist within a eurocentric thought bubble.

also, members can absolutely submit lore. right now i’m the only staff member, and if it remains that way, i encourage members to submit diverse and original lore.
