Lots of things... But most of all I love being creative! I trained as a Graphic designer and currently lecture in Graphic design & Advertising. Aside from lecturing I also work with a collection of small organisations as their communication and outreach coordinator. I love Building and developing brands/ Strategy / Solving problems creatively / Visual Communication /Typography/ Pattern / Illustration & Character design. I believe that one can be inspired by everything; and that indeed is my plan!

Too much to catch up on since last posting but in a nutshell... This module has been about exploring and developing my own practice, finding my 'creative voice' and deciding what form my creative and teaching practice will take in future. It's been quite a journey, a journey of many client projects, personal development and lots of research. It's been hard work but great fun!!! One of the key developments of this process was the implementation of a personal brand and a key part of that was a to let people know about my work through social media and now a portfolio website... So here it is! www.venessascott.co.uk The majority of the projects in the portfolio have been completed over the course of this module and past 10 months... Now I'm in the midst of the HUGE task of reflecting and writing about this entire process! Wish me luck!!!

Colouring page challenge:

Received some more ace submissions. This vibrant offering (top pic) is one of my faves and was rendered by an infamous graf writer (to remain nameless) The second pic is a collection rendered by @leshay_shay. The are #fab! From screen to print! A test print of the wall banner I created for The Media Cntr was dropped of today for my perusal. It turned an achy fluey day into a good day. There are a number of printers errors on it but these will all be addressed a-sap. - All good fun!

Colouring book: Therapeutic art I doodled a set of patterns before bed last night, which in itself was a relaxing activity. Today I sent this first wave out into the wilds today. Let see what results they reap. I asked each of the participants to select one or all of the colouring sheets and complete them at their leisure. I also asked a potential student for our course to complete one of the sheets whilst she was waiting for us to interview her. From this phase I aim to get feedback on the following: - If you selected just one, why that particular design? - When did you complete the colouring sheet? (time of day/night. After work, study etc... - How did you feel before, during, and after completing the sheet? - What was your approach to competing it? (Did you plan it out or just go for it?) - General comments

Making books: Excellent workshop with Hannah today! Great fun. Also loved Tracy's orange and blue combo, looks great. I went for a 'Superhero' inspired colour pallet; always a winner.

Creating layouts: Just completed the latest draft of the New Mag. It’s going well, very enjoyable but hard work after being at work all day! The baseline grid is going great guns! But the feeing now is ‘so close and yet so very very far’ I am still not totally happy with it and some of the layouts are far from being complete, the ads still need to go in, and the print deadline is looming ever closer. All good fun though, all good fun.
