Honestly, I really love Ram, but I don’t like how after episode 8 so many people rushed to defend and justify her rude behavior toward Subaru. They explain it away with her sisterly feelings for Rem, but every single time I just remember how Ram suggested leaving her to die back in season 2... After that, any display of care she shows toward Rem just feels wrong to me. I kind of wish she remembered that loop. I wonder if she would treat Subaru differently then?
I just found it kind of funny that anime onlies either treated her as some sort of unforgivable devil for this or saying that she was acting ooc, and this behavior was actually pretty light compared to what she's done before or what she's gonna do in the future.
As in, her killing Subaru in cold blood for Rem's sake in the torture loop of arc 2, and then later abandoning Rem in a failed loop of arc 4 should've been enough for people to expect this, I thought? She was always shown to be incredibly flawed, so this should've really surprised no one. The outrage seemed quite over the top for me.
She made it very clear throughout the entirety of season 4 that she only came there for Rem and Rem alone, too. Heck, the cave loop was foreshadowing this kind of treatment from her.
I think it's fine to explain why she behaves like this, but yeah, it's definitely not a justification nor her just being "a little mean". I personally defended her on twitter for the sole reason that I saw multiple users being extremely misogynistic and weird towards her.
Tough time in the re:zero fandom to not agree with a character's actions but also not entertain vile shit said about them. Nuance exists, people. You can find a character's behavior irritating and rightfully criticize it while simultaneously understanding them and not wish weird things upon them for it.

Hooogh Re:zero. I'm an anime only, but I'm gonna go into my impressions on arc six ep 8 because I have thoughts. Spoilers for the ep below.
Ough. Ough. He's just a kid. He's so young and innocent. Why. Anyway in clearer words: yeah zerobaru getting his shit kicked in is rough. He's in way too high level an area and is dealing with way too much on every front completely unprepared. But the thing that gets me, from a character angle, is that in the past Subaru always chose the loops to some degree. He didn't try to get killed on purpose, obviously, but he always had an option to run away and didn't take it because it meant protecting his loved ones. But this Subaru is trapped. And to him, he doesn't have any loved ones. He's just been suddenly tossed into a terrifying hellscape for no reason, and can surmise that he either hasn't been able to or didn't want to escape it for a year straight. And he can't possibly comprehend the determination his past self had, because he doesn't have anyone to protect. Its just. Ooooough.

The thing about Julius being upset at Subaru for keeping a secret from him that gets me is that, Subaru did what I think is probably! The right thing!! Because truly it was not his secret to tell!!
It would've been wrong of Subaru to expose Eridna, not just because it was unfair to Eridna but also because it was unfair to Anastasia! Subaru had no way of knowing how much Anastasia would've wanted to keep secret nor how bad she would've wanted the secret to be kept, so all he could've done was keep his mouth shut.
And the thing is that I'm sure Julius knows this! He says as much, he mentions repeatedly that he understands why Subaru kept it, however even though he knows that he still feels upset and betrayed and that's a completely valid feeling to have! Julius just needed time to settle and process his feelings and things would've gone back to friendly probably really quickly with a new understanding of eachother and potentially become even closer afterwards as is the case with most human connections!
It's a deeply real and human situation that kind of shocks me to find in an anime as fantastical as an Isekai (another testament to how great the writing is), neither Subaru or Julius are in the wrong here and that's just how conflict can be (although I think Julius does have some.. issues that he'd need to work on which is what led to this, but that doesn't make him in the wrong).
Too bad Julius wasn't given the time to process the whole situation and end up better for it :) good luck Julius :) I'm sure nothing bad will happen to your mental state now :)
