I'd definitely love to ramble about it!! It's been a bit since I've last read it (and I think I'd definitely need to re-read some parts!!), and I still have to get to the other comics in the universe. I'm very intrigued about the Harley Quinn one!
Okay, so the things that stood out to me about Batman: White Knight ❤︎
I loved those two pages in the first (or second?) issue where Harley speaks to Jack about the reasons why she left. They're probably my two favorite pages from the comic!! I really like it when they draw strong parallels between Harley and Joker: like they aren't compatible, they don't fit with each other, but they have a lot of similarities that overlap.
I also appreciated how Joker wasn't portrayed as abusive (iirc?), he just sort of... lost interest in Harley because his obsession with Batman took over. I like how the other, second Harley, also pointed out that Joker has never hurt her, both physically or intimately, even when he was at his peak obsession with Batman.
Speaking of his obsession with Batman!! I ADORE the altar with all the Batman merch (again, one of those two pages, and the cover to the second issue). There's a religious, holy feel to it, you know? Like a devoted man kneeling at a church altar; the little statues, the cutout newspapers, the candles, and even the gothic-style window really give a church atmosphere!
On this note, it's also very interesting to see Joker's cell in Arkham, and just how much Batman-themed objects he has. First of all, I wonder why he's even allowed to have all those objects, because those seem like a HUGE safety hazard! (Seriously, there's a whole yo-yo there, in a cell at a mental asylum! among other things that could be used as weapons). I don't exactly remember the dialogue at the trial (?) but iirc Jack said something like Gotham needed Joker to be a scapegoat, and I wonder if all that Bat-merch was put there on purpose by the staff to only feed Joker's obsession and make him spiral more? Like I said, I need to read the rest of the comics in this universe, so maybe it's explained there. Still, fascinating stuff!
Also, crop-top Joker with running makeup? 10/10, no notes. Stunning stuff.
