SUNDAY part II (in any order): pay your parking ticket, put away clothes, go to the hardware store for rope to reweave that seat, go swimming, make a pot of beans?
Make dinner, eat dinner, rent that hotel room in Slovenia...
PLANNING V. DOING
SCHEDULING: find care for the pup for July, his vet appointment, that appointment with the dermatologist, that appointment for custom orthotics, my parents' visit this summer...
HOUSEKEEPING: that next wave of reclaiming the loft as my studio, clear out and organize the garage, donate clothing I don't wear, switch the coffee-spice-and-tea cabinets...
LAND CARE: cut back the poke weed, mulch, plant the lemon verbena, cut back the locust, schedule the arborist (planting Kalmia latifolia, Amelanchier canadensis, Leucothoe axillaris, more solomon's seal and/or Hydrangea quercifolia after the tree is cut down), more mulch South Street side...
SHOPPING: gear for Slovenia, a large salad spinner, a blue ink pad for my new Godzilla stamp, a lamp, a vest?!, a bag?...
THE BIGGER PICTURE: exploring work that I could walk to...
Cecil Beaton, “continuous present”
Beginning of a gear list for Slovenia in July/ bolded the things I don't currently own:
Daypack
Poles
Base layer
Fleece (the orange one)
Rain Jacket (re-waterproofed)
Shorts (1)
Hiking pants (those black ones. another pair?)
Sun shirts (2)
Bathing suits (2)
Dry bag
Neoprene socks
Neoprene jacket
Tiny towel
Boots
Trail sneakers (with new insoles)
Slippers
Water bottles (2)
Bandaids
Hat + sunglasses
Wool socks (4)
Adapter for phone charger
Bandanas
Energy bars
Sunday:
{must} groceries, stretching, finish the Gertrude biography
{might} garden in the morning before the rain starts, buy an ink pad?, organize garage, repot fuchsia & math plant, go to the movies, go to the gym?
Twitchy brain, branching branch, running otter:
{In the home garden} weeding and moving around self-seeded Ammi majus, plant the lemon verbena, start mulching with wood chips...
{In the kitchen} eat something that isn't bread!, process nettles, clear stuff off counters, make a gear list for Slovenia, search for an August beach house on the south shore, empty tote bags...
{Out in the world} plant tomatoes, pick up the cake, stairclimber at the gym, climb hills in the arboretum...
For my birthday, I wish that Jen Tullock would make more episodes of surefineokay.
Sudden heat wave: Pineapple juice, chips, seaweed.
Heading into town on the train cause there’s jackhammering outside our apartment. Pulling together a nice outfit that is also warm enough for drizzling and 40s?! Going to wander around, buy cheese, maybe a bookshop?
Must: Pick up medicine, Collect prunings, Process nettle, Deeply water house plants, Dishes, Wash wetsuits, Diner breakfast with R on Sunday!…
Might: Watch soccer, Sauna, Plant the community garden plot, Set up our little balcony, Schedule the tree removal/planting, Soak beans, See that new movie...
“After the Liberation, her home became once again a Mecca for young men, now of an altogether different generation. A stream of GIs, dismissed from active service, knocked on the door, bringing with them their manuscripts, drawings and questions…”
Time to mobilize! Walk the dog up that big hill. In your bag: that lesbian book, a thermos of tea, dog treats, bags, cheese & crackers, an edible...
That's the first step, the walk. After that you can think about whatever else: washing laundry, washing your hair, cleaning out the fridge, a manicure, another even-more-fun spring outing, taking out the trash, taking out the recycling...
MOISTENING + INDICATED FOR RESTLESSNESS; pear, orange, lily bulb, watercress, yogurt…
dreaming of my birthday, next month: the sauna? the beach? new shoes? a knit vest? a trip to the craft museum? Register for nov willow harvest? a trip to the steven coolidge garden? a day trip to horseneck?
Walk up a big hill? Walk around the Quabbin? Day trip to Spectacle Island? Citrus olive oil cake from Third Cliff. Lots of tiny plum wines in a big vessel of ice.
Saturday: Long walk, Bagels, Harvest nettles, Clean up the loft & make the bed for L., Clean out the fridge, Library?, Bathe, Groceries (Easy/early dinner?, Fruit, Decaf coffee), Dance performance at the museum...
Sunday: Community garden workday, Swim?, Sauna?...
