Verboten
I pretended I didn’t see it in your eyes
the soft glimmer reflecting off of the chaotic sea.
Pretended not to know how easy it was to lay in your arms
or why my stomach fluttered every time you smiled.
For I knew it should be resisted
but how can one resist the irresistible?
When the lights that painted the dark, northern sky danced above our heads
I felt a stillness that I had not known.
