for Warhol class on Coursera
full size is HERE
I usually work with scissors, papers and other physical objects (see https://s3.amazonaws.com/coursera-uploads/user-161e5f54472fa1e30e2c544d/970641/asst-17/c71c0340c0f11...), but I decided to do something in Photoshop this time. As you can see, I am very lame and cannot "cut" properly in Photoshop. But I tried to use this imperfection as an advance. I have chosen this image (http://img.blesk.cz/img/2/full/1177032-img-sport-fotbal-goool-titulka-bale.jpg) quie randomly (it was one of the first ones that popped out when I googled title pages of Czech tabloids).
But as I multiplied the face of Gareth Bale and tried to show various parts of it, I found that his expression is quite fascinating. His eyes, lines and lips... Out of the context, he can be doing anything at the moment... from sexual activity to barbequing. He is so concentrated. He could play Superman in the next take on this popular subject. I am sure he would have this expression while flying around.
I used various adjustments and left original colors only in one picture of those 16, imho the original fits there well. I also did not use various sizes of those faces, I just worked with how much of the actual size of the face I want to show... that took me some time.
Here is my assessment for the Comic Books and Graphic Novels class at Coursera.org (and my first comic since grammar school). I enjoyed this very much and am probably going to continue with the story when I have more time. I hope some of you will enjoy it :-)
(I used pencil and black thin marker.)
Congratulations to our TEMPLAR graphic novel photo contest winners! Each winner will receive a TEMPLAR T-shirt.
The train cars used in the 1914 Orient Express were made of teak, not metal, so most of them ended up as firewood in the course of two world wars. The “Last Express” team and I combed the continent pretty hard in 1993, seeking any data that might help us accurately reconstruct the original train, and found only three surviving cars. One was on display in a clearing in the middle of Compiègne forest, for an odd reason: It was in this dining car turned rolling military HQ that the Armistice of 1918 was signed, ending WWI.
Today, I biked there through the forest. The car is still there. And the gargoyle, I mean nice lady, at the front desk still won’t allow anyone to take photos. But it’s cool to touch the actual wood and brass the 1914 Orient Express was made of.
On the train from Podgorica to Belgrade. Not as luxe as the Last Express, but the landscapes are spectacular.
That is beautiful. And Belgrade - yes, another place I want to visit soon on my travels to East Europe. Btw every time I go by train to Budapest and pass Galanta, it is very Last Express feeeling...
fan video from Olomouc, Czech Rep., May 2012. thanks Veronika Zýková !
You are welcome! :) I was glad I found it on my harddrive, was afraid I deleted it and cursed myself.
Great exhibition in Olomouc - whole April (2nd to 30th)!

A guy on reddit posted a bathroom tile that he said contained a bearded man, so I drew him as well as another, more covert fellow.
I have such a huge amount of interesting images from swimming-pool webcam and I continue gathering it, but at one point I have to sit down and make some new gifs after a long long time. Hopefully later this week...
August
I had to do a lot of boring stuff these last months. Finally, I can say that August is going to be my month of creating new interesting things. I will throw away stupid and boring things and do what I really like. No boundaries.
The Last Express
The best video game, released 15 years ago, is going to iPhone and iPad later this year. For magazine 25fps I have written extensive article about this brilliant game and interviewed art director Nicole Tostevin. There was also some talking about her rotoscopy work on Prince of Persia 2.

Swimming pool in the reflection of time (preview)
Just a short glimpse, an excerpt of my long-time "project"; observation of the outside swimming pool and its emptiness, changing weather, running time etc. This is just a loop of few images taken from 17:01 to 17:49 on February 16th 2012. I will upload parts of the "project" later this month. I am still capturing hundreds of images, sometimes the outside meets the inside, as the lights are on (quite difficult to describe in words, images will work better). Not to mention there is a beauty in the darkness of both inside and outside swimming pool. I am not interested in people swimming, but mostly in the calmness of emptiness...
note: these are manually saved images from the public webcam [every 10 seconds automatically renewed]
note 2: more frenetic loop is here: http://makeagif.com/i/89LIHK
