On Valentine's day the whole world drowns in red roses and whispered promises of eternal love. And then there’s me 🦇

I’ve never been one to buy into this spectacle, never seen love as something to be measured in chocolates and grand gestures once a year. Love, if real, should linger in the quiet moments, in the shadows between words. It should be nurtured daily and not be present in a single day draped in forced perfection, disguising a reality which is too often sadly way different.

So, instead of conforming I choose to stand apart.

I might be single but rather than mourning solitude or wishing for someone by my side to fill the voids, I pour my energy into cultivating the most important, deepest, most enigmatic form of love, the one that takes a lifetime to master: self-love ✨

I feed it, I shape it, I let it wrap around me like the darkest silk. Every day, I invest in myself, and today, even more so. I honor my journey, my scars, my resilience. I celebrate my achievements, my victories, my growth, the woman I am becoming, my value, the beauty I’m finally learning to see in my own reflection (somewhere, my therapist is surely raising a toast to this affirmation.).

I think this is one of my fav set of pics from this year 🤩 Why?

Maybe because I see how fierce I've gotten over the years, and it gives me the right strength to overcome delusions and struggles, to keep my head up and continue to walk on my path, even when people seem to have fun trying to make my foundations tremble and to make me doubt about my sense of self.

But no, I won't let them have this satisfaction!

I'm proud of the woman I've become and I'm not ashamed of being the sensitive bat I am, an old soul in a modern world, an unexpected variable in the code society decided to write, a dreamer who still believes in feelings and emotions...and they can't take any of this from me 🖤

I think I have always been a bookworm and a nerd, and this, since I was little, has done nothing but attract harsh comments and gratuitous attacks, bordering on insults, bullying. Yet this has never changed my essence; I have always been and always will be proud to find a corner of peace in the pages of a book 📖

The smell of printed paper, those letters that follow one another like in a frenetic dance between the lines, the grain of the paper under the fingertips, the sound of the pages turning...these are sensations that I will always cherish and carry with me. And it is also perhaps for this reason that I started writing, because one of my greatest desires is to be able to create with my words, for others, magical worlds and atmospheres, emotions that become a refuge, just as my books, while I was growing up, were for me 🖤
