I was really hoping to capture the moment Sonic loses his head, but alas. I may do this with more character later and post results that turn out interesting!

**BODY HORROR**
I thought I had shown this before, but I guess not! In Chao Karate, your active character (in this case Sonic) gets shoved off to the side juuuust outside your view. Your Chao don’t load in until just before you’re supposed to see them.
I’d also like to take this time to plug shesez on YouTube -- he has a series called Boundary Break that does a lot of what I’ve done and reblogged on here! You can see the playlist here.
In the main menu of Yoshi’s Story, a map of Yoshi’s Island can be seen in the book. However, it appears at an angle to the camera and can’t be viewed clearly. Here is the texture used for the map. We can see the island is shaped like a Yoshi’s head.
Whenever Mario falls into water in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, two giant red objects appear under the area for the duration of that animation. Upon closer inspection, these objects turn out to be oversized copies of the sprites used for Mario’s arms. If Mario wears the L Emblem or W Emblem badge, the giant arms change colors accordingly.
In Mario Kart: Double Dash, there is a hidden heart just outside the boundaries of the skybox of Rainbow Road.
I guess I should put these here too. Sonic’s model in SA2 shrinks the farther away he is from the camera, but thanks to Free Look we can observe this beauty in all its charming low-poly glory.
i read your title as vg butts
Excellent. I expect to bring many more butts when I get back to here.
I like your blog! Whoever sent that discouraging anon clearly has issues.
Clearly! If a blog isn’t for you, then don’t snoop around! Just move on. If you wish it had better content, suggest something or make your own blog! I’m glad you enjoy my blog, and I hope to have more stuff for you all soon!
your shit sucks
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoy my blog. I can't wait to show you all more!
Whoa, Mario Party 4?! Yep! I’m pretty sure you can see clearly what’s going on. Because 999 stars isn’t exactly possible under normal gameplay, this message isn’t really seen unless you cheat or hack your stars. I wasn’t sure there was a message for this or if it would just keep going, but it seems they’d thought everything out! (Note: when you get more than 999 coins, everything goes as normal but you aren’t awarded anything.)
This gif is a slight bit rushed, but it was a long gif to begin with. Hard to edit gifs to shrink them down in size for tumblr (3MB limit? 5MB? Please, tumblr.) but what’s going on here is:
Far off from the camera starting point is a point where certain models are stored before they’re put up to the “big screen”. These models are Gamma, Amy, Big (which you can see flash for a frame or two) and the question mark model (Super and Metal, if I recall correctly).
I don’t know where Big exactly came from, nor where the other models go. I guess that’s more reason to keep looking?
Cream received a cameo appearance in the Director’s Cut version of Sonic Adventure after her debut in Sonic Advance 2 before she’d appear in Sonic Heroes as a playable character. Her model and texture depths and style are more akin to Sonic Adventure 2, especially to note the lack of a “frosted” or “glazed” look that the rest of the game has. Quite a detailed model for a character that only appears as a cameo! Perhaps she was planned for more?
Sonic is what you came here for, right? Well, unfortunately, due to this bizarre high-tech water rendering system (a screen buffer of sorts), it will be difficult to get good shots or especially gifs of this game.
Anyway, it’s interesting to see this is how they’d decided to do reflections! On the left, you can see the hotel doors aren’t rendered and you can see into the hotel. It does some weird inversion due to the position of the camera (which is indicated by where all the points meet).
On the right, you see the girl in the pool. Below her, you can see a very stretched-out render of her body (which would look somewhat like refraction but is instead oddly-rendered double-imaging)
I guess this was more efficient on limited hardware? Easy to see why it hasn’t been used otherwise.
While this doesn’t exactly fit here, I thought it’d be interesting to show the full dimensions of the “shiny spot” cone, thanks to the graphical issues.this means the full cone is about twice the size of your character.
This is how trees, bushes, and weeds are done! My favourite part is how pine trees have a full cone for leaves but the regular trees just use planes.
In the part of the game, when you are meeting Rover for the first time, he pulls out a cellphone. This happens to be fully textured with surprising detail (buttons, screen, speaker, and the textures you see clearly on the back).
Hello! Quick update.
Earlier I said I’d get back to this after my commission. That didn’t happen, obviously. I got indulged in game dev. You’ll especially find me talking about it on my main twitter, but there’s also a couple good summaries on my 3D blog.
Anyway, the point of this post is to say I do have a couple things I could show off, but it wouldn’t be a huge series cover like SA2B was. SADX doesn’t appear to have a cutscene debug like SA2B did, so it’s harder to find things during cutscenes, especially to record (not just document) them.
Coming up will be a couple of Animal Crossing screenshots and SADX screenshots. The delay on each of these respectively are I’m researching AC for my own game (and thus working on the game) and SADX has a bit of a weird rendering for water (which is everywhere, so it’s hard to get pictures or gifs that don’t hurt your eyes).
