6/18/2018: What @reylocalligraphy is reading this week (all WIPs)
Past fic recommendations:
1. Permanent Changes by @justanothersailorscout (JustAnotherSailorScout on AO3). An INCREDIBLE soulmate AU, super original and refreshing to read!
Summary: Soulmate/Tattoo AU where once a permanent change is made to the skin, that same marking appears on your soulmate as well.
2. Work in Progress by @reyloday (Weatherbug02 on AO3). The Reylo writing genius @reyloday is back with another Modern AU, this time in the Tumblr verse!!! Get ready for things to get super familiar and meta. I love every bit of it.
Summary: There were few things Ben hated more than himself. Shipping, discourse, and Tumblr were definitely among the top five, but that godforsaken Reyoflight blog was quickly climbing the list. Or, in which Ben and Rey are one of us and turn Tumblr into even more of a hellsite.
3. Bitter, Bitter by @vi-vax (Vivax on AO3). Rey and Ben literally get off to the worst start ever, a brilliant and hilarious fic!!!!
Summary: Rey is a struggling college student, and Ben is a barista with a bad attitude. Bitter can be sweet, under the right circumstances.
4. Remembering Sunday by @kkfangirl56. I don’t have enough praise to say about this fic, so beautiful and @kkfangirl56 is brilliant at writing Ben and Rey’s evolving relationship + delving into their emotions.
Summary: Ben and Rey have been best friends for six years and Ben has been head over heels for her the entire time. Six years of pining and he’s never made an attempt to turn the friendship into more because Rey doesn’t believe in love. But one night out together, Rey starts flirting and Ben can’t resist.
5. To Whom It May Concern by @moonlightrey. The prison pen pals AU you never knew you needed. Riveting dialogue, amazing writing!! Latest few chapters really REALLY took things up a notch.
Summary/Excerpt: Great, Rey. Just great. Start the letter off by insulting them. But what else was she supposed to say? Hi, I’m Rey. Please don’t kill me?
6. Fateful Idiocy by @reyandthesolo. Brilliant, fluffy, adorable, both Rey and Ben are pining idiots.
Summary: When Rey is left to look after Bee-Bee, he runs off and introduces her to someone she may never have met.
7. Let It Fly by @atchamberlin (Atchamb7 on AO3). So funny, adorable, and wonderful to read!!!!
Summary: Ben Solo, a senior at Imperial University, and Rey a sophomore at Jakku College are lacrosse players that have a destiny written in the stars. Ben was shipped off to boarding school at a young age and excelled at lacrosse over the years making him a captain in his senior year, while Rey struggled through high school but found lacrosse and was naturally gifted at it from the start… The two meet at a tournament in Coruscant and it starts a journey neither of them ever thought they’d get.
8. One Way or Another by @orkindofamazing. AMAZING writing and super original and refreshing to read. Ben and Rey bond over stalking their ex’s.
Ben Solo had known he would marry Kaydel Connix since they were children. It was predestined, and who was he to argue with destiny? So when she runs off with someone else, Ben follows, determined to win her back.
Rey Johnson, on the other hand, has no such romantic notions. She does believe in revenge though. So when her cheating boyfriend Poe Dameron dumps her, she is determined to Make. Him. Pay.
When these two jilted exes cross paths, they realize they just might have a common goal they can work together on. But destroying people’s lives is a messy business, and these two don’t realize how much their own lives are about to change.
