                    palms pressed against aching gaze, the pressure hardly easing the exhaustion which pained them so.   this was a burden, like most others, that she would simply have to bear, but proven all the harder for being on top of an aching body as well.   one pass, then two, then three, she finally stopped unless she’d hurt her eyes all the more for the rubbing.   nothing seemed to go well these days, did it?   it was as if the world was against her, more than usual anyway.   frustration built within her ribs, begging for release like the power that now so easily crackled to her fingertips.   when was she ever going to have a good night of sleep, one not haunted by images she barely even understood, let alone recognized?

@shadowsignet 𝔯𝔢𝔮𝔲𝔢𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔡: "you look like hell. have you been sleeping?" he's not any better, but their time together is so limited he has to check on her first. violet is in the present, the now, unlike watching aretia burn from the back of a stranger's dragon while more clashed overhead in blinding rain.

                    xaden’s voice didn’t shatter the haze around her, but he did manage to cut into it, violet attempting to muster a smile as she turned to face him fully.   he too appeared to have gotten little sleep, and the last thing she wished for was to bother him more with another issue.   on top of the ‘keeping her alive unless he also died’.   the overwhelming wave of being a burden to those around her practically drowned the young rider, but only practice kept the half smile on her lips.   she couldn’t say if she sufficiently hid it in her gaze, but there was only so much she could do.

                    ❝  it was alright.  ❞      not a complete lie.   her bed was comfortable enough, as always.   but was it enough truth that he would be unable to tell?   or was her shields up enough to mask it from him?   doubt crept in easily regarding both cases, but she still held her ground nevertheless.     ❝  are you saying i don’t look good right now?  ❞    it’s a weak attempt at a tease, honestly pathetic, but what wasn’t about her right now?    ❝  i think you should be looking in the mirror though.   how much sleep did you get?  ❞

                    fingers grasp opposite wrist, hidden behind gown and back, as the young woman skirted about the edge of the space.   never mind being attired for the occasion or her name written in elegant script beneath her mother’s upon the invitation…   out of place did not begin to fathom the depths of her discomfort.   the elegance of the setting, the soaring ceilings painted and mosaicked, priceless furniture, soft strains of performing musicians, and art which appeared like a window into another world only emphasized the contrast with her daily existence.   there was austere simplicity in all things, born of a man who was always buried in his scrolls and a woman too occupied in preventing tragedy to focus on much else.     ( where was mom? )

                    violet could only pray to all the gods she was not gawking.

                    the end of her silvered braid tickled the skin on the interior of her wrist as she peered around the corner into the next room, seemingly countless couples spinning about in complicated patterns she suddenly yearned to decipher.   if she could dance like them, certainly she would feel less like a goose wrapped in velvet.   but what hope was there in that when she couldn’t even carry a tune?

                    a forlorn note formed in a sigh as she stepped back from the mesmerizing view - only for it to catch in her throat as her back struck something.     ( too soft to be the wall, too sturdy to be art… )     the general’s daughter leapt forward as if burnt, biting hard on the inside of her cheek as an unsteady ankle protested in sharp spikes at her choice to whirl at the same time.     ❝  i am so sorry!   i wasn’t looking and i…  ❞    further excuses fizzled out upon her tongue as her mind caught up with the pure ridiculousness of the frantic sound of her voice, and perhaps a little discomfort of how far she had to crane her neck to meet the slender redhead’s eye.   yet, still one thing left that must be said.     ❝  …are you alright?  ❞

favourite colours: blue, most definitely, especially peacock and then sea/foamy green/blue. actually, most colors that fall into that muted but jewel tone pallet make my heart sing. you wouldn't know it though from how bright most of my graphics are! (if i reboot my first oc any time soon, that color scheme... oooooo) favourite flavours: anything lemon, anything apple, anything cardamon. i do really love tea too, so bergamot! favourite genres: listen, i may tear it apart in my head, but historical fiction/drama will always consume me body and soul. seconded by sci-fi since that's basically history but remixed in space. i do love a little physiological thriller as a treat though. i used to hate fantasy, but i'm growing into some of the classics... and finding some new ones that don't totally drive me up a wall. favourite music: most things? i'm not a huge fan of rap or death metal, but my favorites span a lot of genres of music. glen miller, taylor swift, bach, sabaton, stromae, fallout boy, john williams... a lot of expected things and probably something you don't. favourite films: star wars (all of it), pride & prejudice 2005, arrival, the prince of egypt, belle, amazing grace, in the mood for love, and oh oh so many more. favourite series: the cry, victoria, rome, liberty's kids, bodyguard, blackadder, star trek, battlestar galactica, doctor who, it goes on. last song: welcome home - from the musical bandstand last series: does abroad in japan: nonstop north count? last movie: crazy rich asians currently reading: code girls by liza mundy currently watching: baldur's gate 3 playthroughs currently working on: designing a 1920s new years dress to sew, fighting my currently crippling health issues, and burying my head in the sand from the one before by writing people who don't exist.

[ 𝔬𝔫𝔢 ] OKAY OKAY OKAY, you have so many cool ocs and i just !!!! ahhhhhh about all of them.  i’m going to group them into more like potential general ideas that could apply to one or more of them so yeeeeee.  first are the youngest riders, the ones that will come in violet’s second year.   make her care about them!!!   have her learn their names and keep her from backing off.   i know they’re all rebels and so probably will all hate her guts but that clearly doesn’t keep her from worrying about anyone.   give her reasons to give them tips and try to pull them under her wing.   obviously one of the easier ones might be imogen’s brother but also maybe he’d be one of the hardest after all the shit imogen talked about her last year.   but yeeeeeee, just keep her from separating herself!

[ 𝔱𝔴𝔬 ] for the riders in the year and two above violet  ( i don’t think you have any muses her year, but if you do, i suppose it applies to them too? ) ,   what do they think of violet??????  are they part of the group that wants her dead or do they not care?   what do they think once xaden and her are joined by threshing?   i think violet would try to avoid them at first even after that like all the other rebel children she comes across, but also… what’s fun is forcing two people who don’t want to be in the same space to be in the same space!!!   and of course later, they have to work together so yes.   so much potential!!!

[ 𝔱𝔥𝔯𝔢𝔢 ] for all the fliers, AHHHHHHHHH.  i assume there will be a chance for them all to intermingle during the training or SOMETHING where they can butt heads and make friends…. or not make friends?   but also, i mean, au things might be a lot of fun.  obviously for something where violet ends up in their hands and not the other way around for obvious reasons, but again, a lot of potential worldbuilding points!

[ 𝔣𝔬𝔲𝔯 ] last idea is kind of more general for all of them, but just, i really want to develop a verse where the tyrrish rebels win.   not sure if anything similar to what happened to the rebel children would happen to those like violet, or if the rebels would be completely different.  the whole timeline would change, what her life would be would change, as would theirs, and i just find aus like that sooooo much fun to create.   or alternatively, if you’ve actually built something like that, tell me about it!!!!   let me in on the fun!

so, finished editing/adding a bunch of verses to the other section!!! i still need to add my general fantasy verse there and add a zombie and western verse to this 'historical' section but my brain is broken. going to go tackle the three things left in drafts, and i'm contemplating other blogs and especially graphics too.

                    deft fingers tap over datapad’s screen, succinctly encapsulating the contents of each datachip inserted into another.   with the number received throughout each day, it was a necessary task for one or more aides to complete in order to prioritize their reading… if they could even all be consumed.   most often, the task fell into violet’s lap whenever she had a day within the office, her speed and the thorough nature of her work more than meeting the senator’s standard.

                    this afternoon, she stood a double duty, for, rather than being tucked away in one of the small side offices, she sat at the greeter’s desk.   it wasn’t as if they expected many visitors for the time being, and yet…   the young woman’s gaze darted up as the entrance slid open, rising quickly at the sight before her.     ❝  senator amidala, please come in, but…  ❞   a brief glance down and a swipe of her fingertips proved no appointment sat forgotten upon the books.   apologies still bled from amber gaze as hers lifted.     ❝  i’m afraid you’ve just missed the senator.   can i help you at all?   perhaps ensure you can meet with him tomorrow?  ❞ 

                    after all, why else would the lauded woman be here?

                    unease roiled in her gut as she stood in the courtyard, the roar of a multitude of wings on the air.   tairn had informed them of their approach, several other riders standing about, waiting warily.   these are unbonded dragons, and even though several of the bonded ones stood upon the walls, she still couldn’t help but remember all the warnings given to every rider before threshing.   but she had to trust, had to depend on tairn.

                    who, mind you, was growling wordlessly in the back of her mind about her lack of faith in his ability to protect her.     ( i meant more in the won't let it come to that way, okay? )     turning her gaze to the skies, she held her ground as dragons filled the space.   this will go so well.
