let me remind everyone reading this that compulsions are Not Controllable and can cause Literal Physical Distress to the pwOCD . they usually have some sort of obsession/root cause and it really doesnt matter if you personally think its reasonable because ocd DOESNT WORK LIKE THAT. yeah the person with obsessive compulsive disorder has obsessions and compulsions and they are almost never rational thats why its a disorder. if you are continuing to do something harmful and using somebody else's compulsive habits as an excuse that is On You

Anti-kin really overthink what it's like to be fictionkin when they talk about how horrified or disgusted they'd be to find out someone is 'kin with one of the characters in their story/ies. To me-us, as a writer ourselves, they're flipping out over absolutely nothing. A much more reasonable reaction would be: "My story gave you the words to describe who you are and what you experience? A core part of your identity can be found in what I wrote and people may not fully understand you unless they know of it? I feel flattered and glad that my work is that important to you." A lot of stories do the same thing in other ways; it's not that big of a deal. If you think someone looking at one of your characters and going "oh, that's me!" is a sign of the end times, maybe you shouldn't be sharing your writing in the first place. I'm not sure you'll be able to survive the horrid phenomenon known as "people reading your work", let alone "people relating to your work".
