We don't talk enough about how Finney Blake has no friends.

I don't know why other kids find him weird and off-putting and deserving of bullying. But the science teacher telling the class to pick a partner might as well be a death sentence for the poor kid. (Luckily, Donna is such a sweet precious girl who's into whatever everyone else doesn't like about him.)

Even into the second movie, he supposedly still has no friends except his sister. (Which is sweet, to be fair. I love sibling friendships.) The way he defends himself when Gwen says he has none makes me think he may have some passing acquaintances at school (unless he's outright lying), but they're not close enough to have over or talk about. The reason why no one likes him in 1982 might be a little more obvious with his anger and violence issues, but BG (before Grabber) is still a bit of a mystery. Even if he is quiet, awkward, and nerdy, there's no way he's the only kid in school that is.

Anyway... friendless Finney is absolute fodder for tragedy writing where all he wants is a little attention from someone. To me it is. (✿◡‿◡)
