Hedy Lamarr as Lucienne Talbot in 'Crossroads' 1942, one of the five major film noir movies in which Lamarr appeared.

During the time of this film (early 1940s), Lamarr not only acted, but also developed inventions, including the frequency-hopping technology patented in 1942, the basis of modern wireless communications.

A Japanese Serow (Capricornis crispus) on a steep mountain road on Honshu. Rounding a corner and coming face to face with this wholly unfamiliar creature was a highlight of the trip. Nothing is more exciting while traveling than coming across an unfamiliar creature in the wild, and this one had us all stumped for a moment. These strange looking mammals are a solitary, goat-like antelope that inhabits the steep mountainsides throughout much of Japan.

Rabbits playing serious sumo. During 1871-73 it was popular for Tokyo residents to keep rabbits, and many rabbit pictures such as these were published. These will be exhibited at the “Ota Memorial Museum collection” exhibition until 7/26. [Text by Ota Memorial Museum of Art”]
