mermaid! au robert who got hurt in a boating accident and brought to a rehabilitation center. he gets assigned you as caretaker.

and you don’t fault him for it, it’s scary being in a new place. but he keeps biting you. not hard, not enough to hurt.  just soft little nips to your wrist and arms. he’ll growl if you try to pull away, but otherwise he’s docile, blinking up at you with those soft brown eyes as he nuzzles against you.

it’s not until mandy, your supervisor, tells you what he’s been trying to signal that you realize—

oh. the biting means he’s trying to court you.

went into the academy because she was feeling lost, she was out of place in her previous meif'wa village by being the sole non-magicks user. an anomaly in the Raziin continent with all manner of fae, witches, and magick. a flimsy reason to enter the gruesome and hellish academy but the responsibility of that came with the job shaped her resolve.

penpals with zane, she does not know the crimes her friend did. they relate with each other's family problems. she's fascinated by his ambition, and her lack thereof. the jade bangles were from zane.
