I'd laugh so hard if it turns out AMY is the one who built Metal Sonic, in an effort to recreate Sonic's heroism (since she's apparently going to be coming from another time/dimension or something), and it just went horribly wrong. Like, idk, idk, he got hacked and her plans got stolen, hence all the additional metal Sonics in the teaser
