Rambling on NSFW/Tumblr:

This Tumblr has existed for 10 years, in multiple formats, operating as both a pseudo-portfolio, a dumping ground for content not relevant to Twitter, a dumping ground for the most banal and insane of content. My photography, both good AND bad, migrated from Tumblr to Instagram once the service declined once Yahoo! bought the service.

With Tumblr, I’ve never felt pressure to have a ‘grid’, a ‘follower/following’ ratio, or any of that nonsense. I have a stream of enjoyable content, primarily: art, design, illustration and video games, that occasionally features nudity.

Tumblr had a NSFW filter, which felt like an decision made by grown-ups. I plead, publicly, for Instagram to take the same step.

Instagram is for the shamed creative class, a filtered world where sexual expression is shameful.

Where does the community go? Where is free expression allowed? Anywhere unpaid? No? OK.

I post less, here, as less people used it. Yet, I still check it multiple times per week, to see the people still dedicated to the platform.

RIP to the platform that felt new and exciting. RIP to freedom of expression.

It’s funny, I planned to use Tumblr more, again. I’ve been remaking my portfolio; after shuttering in 2016, following a drought of inspiration. I planned to relaunch it before Christmas, with the Tumblr ‘blog’ section being a vital component. Now? Bah, humbug

some adult content for before the ban comes into effect and this whole ship goes down in flames. I haven’t used Tumblr for anything but pornography for the last several years. big mistake, Tumblr. big mistake. RIP / BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
