Grave Lingering's

Writing lyrics from beyond the grave

They seem to carry a heavier weight

When you're gone will they finally listen?

Tighten up their ways, and cry for all they ignored?

To drown, or bleed, or drink something to go to sleep

Will they listen then to the words you keep?

The painted prisons you showed with every brush stroke

Every line of ink

When you see the other side

Will they finally hear what you had to say?

Put it on a pedestal for all to see

You left a mark, you were here

That you were living between the lines of pain

And fighting to regain yourself

Or will you fade into obscurity

They say anyone can write their piece

It's a matter of what gets seen

I guess we're the ones invisible

A living grave with fading breath

Reaching to the other side, you can almost touch the love

But it's still so out of reach

The petals fading with each daylight bleeding

Wishing to stop each tear from leaving, jaded eyes

Falling down your ashen skin

One after another, no stopping it now

And watching every cloud pass over above your resting place

Heart is heavy in your chest

Weighted down by every ache the world calls progress

Creating what you can give

Till fingers are breaking and shaking

The rose wilting and truly out of grasp

The ground is cold, the exhaustion takes hold

You're waiting to be heard

You hope and pray with every seasons turn

Lay down beside us, understand the rest

Drink the bottles beside your headstone

Maybe it's all for the best..

Cravings

I crave, like a creature starved and locked away

I watch with a mooning gaze for a lone scrap of true love

Like a stray cat begs for morsels just outside the door

Like a man restrained in chains, watching the world pass by

Sitting in my forcefully imposed prison

Companions to my resentment and exile

I cannot find what I search for

And I do not wish for that which is overbearing or lacking

A passion on terms of my own volition

I can't be what's expected

I can only be me

I crave and I crave, till my bitterness sinks in

Disillusioned by the truth at hand

How can my broken heart still beat and keep me going?

How can I not speak the words needed?

As if my tongue were muted

Will they even be truly heard, or end up misconstrued?

Craving, still my teeth are left aching

For a taste of ambrosia I cannot be given

For one cannot enjoy the devouring of what doesn't exist

Reality and dreams intersecting in a need so profound

Icy stone of another lost emotion

Lain to rest in the mausoleum of existence

I'm not a vessel for your aspirations

Your theoretically unbound goals

I long to find a steady foothold in the rare steady eye of life's storm

To comprehend myself and how to stand on breaking ground

Without slipping into an all consuming darkness

Where lightning would strike a heavy heart to ashes

I'm hungering for an end to this blandness upon my tongue

I crave ever and ever for what I lack

For a true definitive understanding

Recognition revealed

Like a candle sparked in the shadow of a room

It's been a while since I've drawn this guy. He's an old character of mine, and I had revived him for a while in a discord server that I've since left.

His name is Nathaniel, read more for a bit about him.

Nathaniel Thorn is a 170 year old half Arabic, asexual, day walking vampire that was born and turned in the Mojave desert. He lives in a clan of vampires, as one of the respected leaders. He's strong willed, and looked up too by many of those in the clan despite his often avoidance of groups and more choice of solitary and silence. He has a love for all the animals of the desert, but especially the reptiles, even collecting and saving shedded snake skins. His clan is very spiritual and could be considered very druidic in their approach to things. From dancing around fires, to ritual blood drinking, to using herbal substances to go on what could be described as 'spiritual walks'. There is a clash of cultures within their community to the point things have combined to create something very pagan and new, due to all the different types that have joined them over the years. Their shamans/priests are in high regard within the clan.
