Calliope, I think, feels extremely... dysphoric, dysmorphic, ashamed, etc. for her appearance. I think that she is viscerally uncomfortable with her life with the humans mixing with her hellish home life and anything from that part of her past.
Elaborating on this, like i think maybies this dread regarding her cherubhood around her human & troll friends might fade or even go away with enough time, but i think it would shreally take Time (and ☝️love ♡) and in the meantime i think she would be prone to falling back into it and really just isolating from the world for long amounts of time to her own detriment. like maybe she'd even talk to Caliborn like Exclusively during her everything-sucks-&-I'm-irredeemable,-inhuman,-&-a-creature-made-of-uranium,-leather,-and-knives-arcs.
Like sorri Roxy i have 2 lock myself in the basement & text (or pretend 2 text if hes dead dead) my shitass brother because i am a jagged boney thing totally alien to the smoothed soft flesh of your species and that makes my attempts 2 be soft 4 u a gross & pathetic imitation (like sleeping with a pile of rocks).
