fraserhartman:
“Ah, while that is true, but manipulation and obedience is so very easy even for the most sophisticated and intelligent creatures. Take humans for example, you can train someone to like you, to trust you through simple classical conditioning, or niceties. If people are easily pliable, so would dolphins be. If we were to see in this scenario that dolphins have a self concept like humans, that person could use it against them by just taking some kind of social psychology class.”
Fraser tapped his chin thoughtfully, thinking about Seaworld in that moment. “Isn’t that how they get them to do tricks at Seaworld, train them by rewarding their actions they like with fishies? Imagine just doing that by building trust and there’s no saying how long it would take a dolphin to trust someone. They might be more willing if, surprisingly, for once a human being able to understand and communicate.”
“I think you’re underestimating the human mind.” Elijah replied, leaning forward in his chair. “Sure, it’s easy to convince a person of something, but to truly manipulate them to be completely obedient is something complicated and, frankly, inhumane... The same can be said for Seaworld. There’s a reason that people petition to release the animals.” He shrugged. “But who knows, I suppose anything is possible.”

Yoona sighed hearing the trainer claims as she didn’t feel as though she was where she needed to be in terms of controlling her powers. When working one-on-one, it seemed harder to do what she was told but in a group setting, Yoona had easily controlled her power without fail. She took a seat then opened a particular set of notes. “I struggle to control myself when I’m alone.” Yoona stated with her eyes narrowed at the note. It was a fear of hers. She hated being alone. She tends to overdo the pain to herself and it constantly discouraged her from trying any harder. “It hurts too much and I can’t do anything to stop it.”
“No one ever said this was going to be easy, Yoona.” Elijah replied as he lifted his mug to his lips once more. He had a pretty good grip on his abilities at this point, but he also struggled when he was first starting out. “It took me a few years to get a grip on my powers. I know this sounds like something from a fortune cookie, but don’t get discouraged." He smiled softly, turning another page in the file and pursing his lips together. “Perhaps that means you just need more one-on-one practice in a more relaxed setting. I’d be willing to help if you think it would be beneficial.”

“Piper? What a pretty name.” Yoona nodded as she took another cookie. She smiled at the taste as she started up her mini dance once more. “If you keep on baking then I’m going to hang around you a lot more.” Yoona beamed before realizing she hadn’t introduced herself yet. She brushed off her hands, not intending to take any more cookies off the tray. “I’m Yoona. Welcome to where the fun happens.”
“Oh, thanks. Yours too.” Piper beamed, letting out a soft laugh as Yoona started dancing once more. “Then it looks like the two of us are gonna have a pretty good relationship. I love baking.” She smiled, tucking a strand of blonde hair behind her ear. “Thanks. I’m uh, I’m glad to be here.”
rcsfcber:
drake was focused on his sketchbook and for a moment he did sort of forget that he was in a common space where anyone can just walk up. he was certain someone was trying to get his attention earlier but he was just in his own world. though when he heard the girls voice he blinked a couple times knocking himself back to reality. he scrunched his nose for a brief moment, not noticing her around like has with others. was she another new person? how many people were born on the same day as him? “uh– are you sure?” he asked laughing a bit nervously cracking his knuckles which were a bad habit of his but boy did it feel good after drawing for several hours.
Piper could see that the man was focused on what he was doing, so she was about to walk away and let him be when he looked up and spoke. “Yeah, of course.” She nodded, picking the plate up off the table and holding it in front of her. “I mean, if you don’t want one you don’t have to have one, but you’re welcome to them.”
yoonapng:
“I bought a snack pack.” Yoona smiled, taking another bite of her pudding cup. She reached over in the plastic bag beside her and tossed one to the other. “I shouldn’t be eating too much of these so help me eat them.”
One thing Jade didn’t particularly like about herself was her massive sweet tooth. She knew she was supposed to eat healthier, but she always caved sweet stuff, and this was no exception. “Thanks.” She nodded once as she caught the pudding cup.

Yoona tapped away on her phone knowing very well she was definitely not suppose to be stuck in her room all day. She looked back on her desk at the notes she received from training the day prior and sighed heavily. She grabbed the manila file and finally decided to go and ask about it. She slowly dragged her legs, obviously not wanting to go before knocking on the door quietly then entering the room. “I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.” Yoona frowned then placing the file on the desk. “I’ve been here for years and it’s like I’m barely improving.”
Spotting the familiar figure, a warm smile tugged at the corners of Elijah’s mouth as he motioned for Yoona to enter. “I’d hardly say you’re not improving. If you ask me, you’ve improved greatly.” He replied as he put his mug down on his desk and picked up the file. Paging through it and skimming its contents briefly, he pulled out the chair across from his with a flick of his wrist. “Why don’t you have a seat and we’ll talk in depth?”
yoonapng:
“Hello.” Yoona’s eyes were still stuck on her phone as she continued to type away. She stopped midway after the other offered a treat and Yoona took a few seconds to decided whether or not she should take it or not. “I’m on a diet but I guess one or two cookies shouldn’t be too bad.” Yoona grinned taking one. She did her mini happy dance as soon as she took a bite with the biggest smile on her face. “I love cookies almost as much as I love me.” Yoona beamed. “Never seen you before, new here?”
The other girl’s remark caused Piper to raise an eyebrow. She was typically a pretty good judge of character, but the statement was also pretty direct. “Yeah, cookies are pretty awesome.” She nodded, not entirely sure of how else to respond. “Yeah, I’m pretty new. I’m still trying to get to know everyone.” She tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear with a soft smile. “I’m Piper.”
While most people were out socializing, Elijah usually sat in his office by himself, surrounded by scattered papers and well-worn books. Today was no different, as he sat reading with a cup of tea brewing itself in the corner. He often used his powers in mundane ways such as this, as he saw no need to do much more unless absolutely necessary. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted someone standing nearby, and he looked up from his book to greet them as he held out his hand and the cup of tea floated over to meet it. “Is there something I can do for you?” He asked before taking a sip of his drink.
zuperztupid:
“A good story?” The question could have been construed as rude, daft even, but when Sid thought of his own recountable stories from training the antidotes were filled with mishaps, and shortcomings. Not stories he cared to share unless in a self deprecating manner. “I-I could use a break.” He tried to offer, hoping to reconcile his absentmindedness. Sidney’s eyes traced the papers littering his desk before once again pushing the mess of curls out of his face, rubbing his eyes, and trying to remember just how long he had himself held up at that desk. “I mean, if I don’t take a break now, I don’t think I’ll leave this spot all weekend.”
“I mean, I would think so, but sometimes a story sounds more interesting in my head than it does when I say it out loud, so I’m not really sure.” Piper shrugged, tucking a blonde strand of hair behind her ear. She loved to talk, but sometimes she had a habit of talking a little too much. A habit she was trying to break. “So now I don’t really know if I want to tell it again. But, if you still want a break, I’m sure we can find something to do.”
“alright, you get one more minute.” gabriel tried his best to swallow a smile as a kid marveled at one of his tattoos, a small horse, as it galloped across his arm. kids were his weak spot, but he didn’t like to publicize it.
out of the corner of his eye, he spotted someone else from the academy. he coughed, then swallowed. “uh, don’t let this get out, alright?”
Piper often liked to walk around the city in her spare time. Sure, she grew up in a city, but this was an entirely new area and she still needed to get her bearings. As she turned a corner, she spotted a man she recognized from the academy, and the scene she saw unfolding in front of her was an endearing one.
“How come?” She asked, walking over with a smile on her face. “People aren’t allowed to know you have a heart?”
