Coffee-less Morning||Open

It was Gilbert’s turn to go to the store and pick up stuff to fill the German brothers’ refrigerator. The beer always ended up going fast and he wasn’t really a milk drinker. Sure, he’d use it on his breakfast cereal, but that was it. There were other things Ludwig had said to get, but beer was the only thing on his mind—who cared if it was morning?

Before he realized someone was near him, a cart ran into his. He looked up at the other man and cocked his head.

"Whoa, are you alright? Ya look like you’re still in the middle of dreamland, man." He laughed.

Tino blinked several times, hearing another voice. He glanced up, looking over at the person, shaking his head. He tried to stifle another yawn as he stood there for a moment. "Yeah, I'm fine..." He said, trying to make it look like he was fine.

He was happy that he didn't drive there, hating to look like that he was still half asleep. "Sorry about that, didn't meant to run into you....."

"Hm, that is a good point," he mused, tilting his head to the side. Then, laughing, he said, "I guess that’s why you’re the writer, huh?"

Tino just shrugged his shoulders, shaking his head. "I suppose so." He smiled the next moment. "Although, what's worth writing about is a meeting like this."

Clasping his hands under his chin, he chuckled and said, “That sounds like the makings of an interesting story right there. I have the feeling you’d put an amazing spin on it.”

"Does it?" He blinked once, shaking his head. "I'm not sure if that could just be all of the story though. Normally the wise one is just a side character in a greater quest."

Coffee-less Morning||Open

If there was one thing that annoyed the Finn, it was being out of anything that was remotely food related. Being out of coffee was also up there on his list, hating to be out of that the most. However, he had the day off from the bookstore and going shopping was on the top of his list.

Anyways, there he was in the store that morning. The young man was leaning against his cart, half asleep. He wasn't paying attention to where he was going feeling his cart bump into his. He blinked once, not even glancing up at the person he had bumped into, mumbling a small sorry.

"You’re welcome," he answered with a soft smile. He laughed, raising a hand to cover his mouth. "I can’t argue with you there. You never know who you’ll meet on the subway!"

He laughed, shaking his head. "Good, I'm not sure anyone can. There's always the wise subway guru who looks like an old lady or an old man or someone who doesn't look that old but who has tons of wisdom. And of course, the people you'd rather not be on there with..."

He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, averting his gaze towards the ground. “Like I said, I’m really just throwing ideas out there. You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.”

The Finn shrugged his shoulders. "I really appreciate it though. Maybe I'll even make a compromise between the two." He said with a grin. "It's not every day you meet someone who will offer you random advice." There was a pause. "Well, expect for if you take the subway. There's always some wise subway guru there...."

He flushed as he realized his rambling wasn’t making any sense. “Ah, sorry about that! I meant that maybe instead of writing for just one market or another, what you really want to do is write for both of them?” He wasn’t sure that it even made sense to himself now that he thought about it, but it was too late to take it back.

"Oh!" He exclaimed after a moment, looking up in thought. He shrugged before grinning. "I might, by the sounds of it." He looked at the other for a moment. "I could try it, they would just need to be different stories since most places only allow the story to be through them for sometime, if either place will even like it."

Matthew hummed in acknowledgement as he thought. “Maybe, subconsciously, writing in just one language isn’t what you want to do?” he suggested. Then, waving his hand embarrassingly, he continued, “Ah, feel free to ignore that; I’m just throwing stuff out there.”

The Finn blinked, staring at the other blond for a moment. He wasn't quite sure what he had meant and pursed his lips in thought, shaking his head. "I'm not quite sure what you meant by that. You could explain if you want. I just want to make sure I understood it correctly..."

Matthew’s cheeks pinked. He didn’t think he was great, per se, but he didn’t want to seem hypocritical by saying so. “Finnish? Interesting,” he said. He was honestly intrigued; he loved learning about other cultures and languages. “Would easier necessarily mean better, though?”

Tino only smiled brightly at the other. He nodded, rubbing the back of his neck. He had thought about writing books in his native language but there wasn't as big of a market as there would be in English. He shrugged. "Probably not, I mean at least in English more people will read it than they would if it was in Finnish..."

He smiled sheepishly, absentmindedly rubbing the back of his neck. “Thanks,” he said, toeing the ground. “I think being a writer is a worthwhile goal too, by the way.”

The Finn kept his smile. "But of course. I bet you're really great too." He smiled a bit. "Really? Maybe, I'm trying to get into the English writing market. Sometimes I think it would just be easier trying to get published in Finnish..."

He blinked in surprise. He hadn’t expected that question. “No, it’s ok! I don’t mind; I want to be a singer.” He clasped his hands behind his back and rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet. “It’s hard, but I want to at least be able to say I tried, you know?”

"Good, I didn't want to come off as rude." He said with a nod, his grin widened. "Really? That's awesome. Being a singer is a really awesome goal. I understand that...I really think any sort of goal is hard but a goal like, that, would be even harder. There's so many people going for it." He grinned again. "I really salute you for that goal though."

He nodded, humming thoughtfully in agreement. “Oh, no, it makes sense! And I agree with you as well; there’s nothing wrong with being a bit critical of oneself. But I feel that if you get too critical so as to hold yourself back from doing what you love, then that doesn’t help you much in the long run.” He touched a finger to his cheek and tilted his head to the side before he asked, “Does that make sense or am I just rambling?”

"No, it makes sense. I mean, well, if it's something you really wanna pursue then it does make it hard, yes." He paused for a moment. "What about you? Is there anything you want to pursue that you're trying not to be critical of yourself of?" There was another short pause. "Sorry if that question sounded odd..."

"I suppose it does, doesn’t it?" He chuckled and, raising one finger into the air, said, "Definitely! No matter who it is, someone is going to be hard on themselves at one point or another. In my experience though, I’ve usually found that to be unwarranted." All through the conversation, Matthew had been pleasantly surprised at how easily he and the other man had struck up a rapport. Maybe he would let Matthew read some of his writing?

He nodded, smiling a bit and head falling to the side for a moment. "It's true though, you always heat that no one is a bigger critic than yourself." He paused for a moment. "Really? Sometimes I know if you can hinge yourself from doing things by being too, what's the word, critical....? Yes, that's it. If you are just the right amount, I do think it help." The Finn paused for a moment. "If that makes sense."

"They’re like two peas in a pod, really," he answered, chuckling slightly. "They were together at the shop, so they were already used to each other, and I brought them home at the same time, so…" he trailed off, shrugging his shoulders. He smiled and clasped his hands together. "That’s so cool that you write!" he exclaimed. "I’m sure you’re better at it than you think."

"That's good though, you don't need to worry about them getting jealous about the other." He said, grinning a bit. "That makes even more sense if they were together before you go them." He shrugged. "I suppose so," he turned a bit red. "Haha, maybe. Everyone's a bit hard on themselves."
