Matthew kissed him once more before settling on his chest with a yawn of his own. "Yours..." he replied with a nuzzle to Gilbert's chin.

Gilbert nodded to him and smiled. Matthew made him so happy even if they hadn’t been together for very long. If he learned anything from Francis, it was that sometimes you just knew. Whether it lasted for a short time or forever, he knew it was love.

"Yeah…I do, Mattie." He leaned in close and began kissing him again.

"Gilbert..." The tears began to fall and he cupped Gilbert's face in his hands. He threw himself into his arms and kissed him back, murmuring "I love you" between kisses.

Gilbert blinked for a moment as he heard what Matthew said. He hadn’t heard those words since Francis. He felt tears well at the corners of his eyes as he laughed and squeezed Matthew closer and smooched his face all over.

"I love you too, Mattie…" It just felt so right.

Tears gathered in his own eyes as he raised himself up on one elbow. Staring down at Gilbert, he stammered, "Y-you do?" He brushed his fingers against Gilbert's cheek as his lower lip began to tremble.

"I’m beat now, Mattie…let’s take a nap together." He gently caressed Matthew’s back and gazed into his eyes.

"Mmm, okay..." He burrowed his face into the crook of Gilbert's neck. Before he could stop himself, he muttered, "I love you, Gil..." Then, realizing what he said, his eyes flew open and his body stiffened.
