Loud Voices
(by me, Shafira Nabiila, 2015; digital collage)
It seems as though as time passes, laws change, new inventions are created, and that we as humans have developed alongside it. However this may not be entirely true, after a comparative study between the artists of 19th century Frida Kahlo and 21st century KwangHo Shin and Marcelo Monreal, it seems that there are some things in life that are helpless and are very difficult to change. Interestingly, the most complex of all these problems are held within ourselves a battle within ourselves caused by excessive social suppression of strict systematic rules and order. Through my first set of art pieces, here, I expose the reality of the hushed voices of the younger generations in this day and media. By exposing a contrast through inner bursts of emotions alongside the dull exteriority of the pieces, or simply by its composition, my pieces are aimed to mark a movement in equality (compared to the past moralities) of voice amongst all ages, gender and culture.

Hello.
Who am I?
I am your average, seventeen-year-old teenager, some may even use the term “mainstream” to describe my style of living. I couldn't agree less, which is why I have created this blog to prevent my descend into the forever misery of oblivion. I often hush the voices within me, thinking that it did not matter to others, useless. But someone along the years taught me that, what might seem as a regularity to me, might be whole new perspective to others.
So who am I? In sight, you would call me mainstream, but I can assure you that I have something unique to share. With my dad from Central Java and my mom with origins from Western Sumatra and Java Island, I am a full Indonesian girl. However at the age of four my dad brought us to, the once sand pit, Dubai, UAE. In love with its simplistic lifestyle, we stayed... for almost twelve years today. Nevertheless, life here became more... crowded, diverse and unfortunately its tradition of simplicity is fading and moralities became dependent upon materialism. I am now a person of the world, is it better this way? Unity (upon materialistic facades)?
Speechless in disbelief by the fast-pace changes of my surroundings, I start to feel greater urges to express my confusion. Fortunately, I shaped these urges into art pieces in which I will post here. As other forms of escape, I also ski, watch movies, make movies, shop (guilty!), cook, bake, take photographs and travel.
Listed above are a few hints to of whom I am, as an individual. i hope you find me interesting.
I left, but I came back... Bolder
Another page is turned but the novella, that is this blog, continues to flourish. Hello everybody, as very little of you know, this is not the first launching of this blog; in fact I have had this blog running for over four years by now (21/2/2016), since I was around thirteen. Believe it or not, regardless of the many reconstructions, I still have not yet merely understand how to function tumblr and its extravegant features. Thus, along with this new, more sophisticated, look of the blog is a some-what wiser and more mature blogger and artist. Although seemingly, and probably, naive at 17, I believe that I have set my goals and priorities straight as I have planned a future in this oeuvre of greater regular posts. A blog may seem so simple, yet could open loud minds to dance in freedom, I believe it’s a real eye-opener, reflective. So, here, my blog, is my experiment into self-discovery. Enjoy.
A fresh start...
