My notation software updated and now literally every single one of my files plays back an entire step down from how it’s written. I have no idea how to fix this and can’t get an answer from the company. Sooooo I guess I’m buying a new software and retranscribing every single one of my songs.

My girlfriend and I are replaying Final Fantasy VII and I had some frustrations with Square Enix and the fanbase that I needed to express through memes.

In an attempt to actually get something done with myself I’m going to start setting deadlines and making something tangible for myself to track progress so it feels more concrete.

I’ve been trying to make myself sit down and work on a new project for about a year now and after batting around ideas and not doing anything with them I’ve decided that the summer will be my wake up call to kick things into action and make things happen. I’ve finally settled on a track list (although names are tentative) and I’ve actually made a little more progress than I thought! Here’s to finally doing real work again 👌🏻

I made an attempt today to sit down and make myself do some notation for a project that I had been working on and thinking of for a long time. The last few months I've been struggling really hard to put anything down on paper. My motivation and fear of disappointment has been holding me back for a long time and while I could definitely stand to have better work habits, even a little bit of progress is good progress. I've been thinking a lot about the term "self-care" the last few days. I used to see self-care as taking days to do nothing but play video games, or going out to dinner, or things like that. The more I've been thinking about it, while those things may temporarily make me feel better, they don't actually solve any problems. They're band-aids on a deeper unfulfilling feeling and truly caring for yourself means doing things to address root issues. In short, it makes me feel better to play video games all day, but it doesn't make me happy. Good ideas and good intentions go far enough but without anything on paper it doesn't mean anything. I'm going to start taking more of effort to care about myself in a way that truly matters and I encourage you to find a way to care about yourself that makes you happy, and not "better".

I am indeed both of those things! Although I have been dormant as of late.

Wedges and Shards are a little bit trickier because there are so many converging ideals (a lot of them conflicting) that make “enjoyment” a little difficult to grasp. Something that I would find a little easier would be trying to determine what kind of music I would write for a movie about them. Along with musical examples!
