how about this: I play Opalesence and my Parallax Wave becomes a creature. I hold priority & put four exile triggers on the stack, the last one being the Parallax Wave exiling itself. You, having Leyline of Anticipation out, play Oubliette targeting my Parallax Wave in response.
was reminded of this old post recently by seeing a game in which a Replenish deck, built around this combo, faces an Enchantress who also plays Parallax Wave (39:14):
Opalescence makes both Waves into creatures, vulnerable to exile. who moves first loses, probably, but things get very complicated in the meantime. both players have additional symmetry-breaking pieces; the action is ultimately forced on the Replenisher by the fading of his Wave; the upkeep step takes multiple minutes to resolve. i am still unsure if either player made any mistakes.
me and the Mystery Cadre of the Communist Apotheosis Vanguard have been working on a special ritual posting technique which uses particular letters in particular sequence during particular auspicious dates and times to thread a sort of broad, noospheric reality-poison which can then be funneled and drip-fed directly into the mouth of the tyrant Sol, hastening his death by supernova and leveling the three planes into a mathematically perfect one-dimensional space. by current estimates, we can shave maybe eight hundred million or so years off the top, but over the course of the next several lifetimes we're hoping to run that number up to five or six billion
a few difficult but worthwhile things to attempt:
a historicism that consistently goes beyond genealogical critique
an approach to social constructions that neither dismisses nor capitulates to them
an account of abstraction that's [THE QUALITY I CAN'T PUT IN WORDS YET]
parapsychologists confirm NPC theory and prove majority of the population have no conscious experience. despite their pleas of resistance, society gradually shifts towards brutal exploitation and enslavement of the NPC for the benefit of the conscious, reasoning that it would be wrong for resources to go from real people to mindless golems. when the world ends everyone wakes up somewhere else, and told by horrified celestials that they had been bestowed consciousness as a sort of recording device or viewing device, just a kind of camera, to make a record of the beings in this world, who had simply been assumed to be valuable in themself regardless of what mode of experience they existed in. why in heaven would you assume otherwise? consciousness was a tool for elevating such beings, not something to set themself above as the only truly valuable. or at the very least, they could have value in the process of entering the experience of their observers. their hubris had made the world into a hell
sex testing isn't making people discover that they're intersex, it's making people intersex. if someone's sex characteristics are imperceptibly different to what sex defines they should have, it wouldn't have placed them in a different social category until both the technology and the drive to test were there. ppl just don't really believe that sex categories are also socially constructed and fluid. things like hormone levels naturally wildly range between people before it gets to a point where someone looks noticeably "different" for their sex—a cafab person with testosterone levels deemed high today would not have been intersex 200 years ago unless they displayed noticeably masculinised features, because nobody would have known anyone's testosterone levels and therefore can't use that as a basis for treating someone differently!
i don't regret switching to linux but sometimes people exaggerate how easy it is these days. boring below the cut
i am on linux mint bc it is supposed to be simple and stable. i had a hellish time for some hours yesterday bc one of my video drivers is incompatible with the newest version of the linux kernel. it's not even a proprietary one! ubuntu just packages an outdated version of v4l2loopback ig. got a kernel panic a couple times, swapped to an older version of the kernel but every time i tried to use apt it first tried to build the new broken kernel and crashed.
eventually, after wading through several logs, various config files in ad-hoc formats and bash scripts in directories like /etc/kernel, countless vaguely-relevant-seeming but useless documentation pages/stackoverflow answers/forum posts, asking a friend (arch user, not familiar w mint) who was helpful but didn't know what was going on either, and making a forum post which a mod moved to the correct forum but which nobody answered, i figured out:
that it couldn't be solved with grub
that there was no way to tell apt or dkms "stop trying to autoinstall shit for this version"
that what i needed to do was remove the new kernel
that this was safe and didn't require me to run three extra cli tools to not make my computer explode, as long as i didn't make any typos in the process
that the command to do so wasn't apt remove or apt clean or dkms remove but instead apt purge
that i needed to do this on two packages, linux-image and linux-headers
neither of which showed up at all when i asked apt about them, because they weren't installed, because of the crash,
only one of which had been on my radar from the error messages
and solved my problem.
look, i know the posts being talked about here and they are indeed annoying. but talking about "more palatable" or "less palatable" in an abstract sense isn't helpful. palatability is to people and varies enormously between different audiences. there are many pressures on us and no reason for them to be consistent.
example: in many cases the dynamic is that cis people (setting aside open eliminationists) find trans people palatable insofar as they can ignore that they're trans. this can manifest as pressure into a "normal" sex-gender to sweep the phenomenon under the rug (as in the traditional attitudes of the clinic) or as pressure into forms of transness they find it easier to pay lip service to without taking seriously (as in some liberal spaces; what they find easy also varies). identification isn't the only factor here but it's caught up throughout—-a "normal" sex-gender includes a binary identification, for instance, though the reverse doesn't hold.

Please put on your N95s. The same ones used for covid will filter particulate pollution. I lived in a city with yearly winter pollution levels like this. If you can pay for it, you might as well get an indoor air filter to sleep in.
it is beyond cruel that venezuela is now a US colony for all intents and purposes and the US still continues to wield sanctions against it to the detriment of the nation's poorest and most desperate people even in the aftermath of an earthquake that's killed thousands
