Who wants to play hooky today? Let's go camping instead! 🏕🏕
"I was more than impressed. I purchased initially because of hip issues so the sling backpack would be equally distributed on my back, instead of a purse pulling in one side. This has two deep side zippers, a front zipper , two smaller zips and a privacy zipper to put valuables in safely against your back. No matter how much you stuff in each section, It is equally proportioned and extremely comfortable. Would buy 10x over again. Highly recommend. Plus it's waterproof." - Laura Pelfrey Get the Vitchelo® Numanni Travel Sling Backpack here ==>> http://amzn.to/2pO3v16

4 Fun Things to do Outdoors This Thanksgiving Weekend
WHAT WOULD THANKSGIVING WEEKEND BE LIKE WITHOUT TURKEY?
Maybe this is the year to find out.
When you think about it, it's surprising that one bird has remained the focal point of dinner every year on the fourth Thursday in November; when, conversely, tons of ads and online messages bombarding our inbox equate “the holidays” with spending money.
So, rather than roaming around a shopping mall or vegetate in front of the big screen TV, here are seven fun things you can do outdoors this Thanksgiving weekend.
1-Â Take a Hike
Being outside, surrounded by nature, is an ideal way to calm the mind and to become more fully aware of the wonders that surround us. Feeling thankful for life and all the people in it comes more easily when you stop in the woods and take in the beauty surrounding you.
2-Â Run, Walk or Trot
The annual Thanksgiving meal always promises to be big feed, often followed by hours of TV time. Why not break up the day by burning off a few calories before or after eating?
Check in your area if there's any organized running, walking, and trotting taking place Thanksgiving Day 2015 with the opportunity to work up that appetite while giving back to the community.
3-Â Pick-up flag (or touch) football or soccer games
With many relatives and friends in town for the holiday, many schedule sporting get-togethers either in the morning or afternoon.
4- Camping
I know. You may wonder why anyone would want to go camping, on a holiday? Aren’t you supposed to be home and tucked in for the day? One of the best things about Thanksgiving is the chance to slow down and relax. Campfire meal prep for the holiday can ensure a drastically reduced meal prep time and clean up time while still allowing for post-turkey napping and football, live of course.  After all, getting your gang outdoors and away from WiFi, would it be just for this day, isn’t such a bad idea!
Do something different this Thanksgiving: Go camping! Take a Hike! Run! Play hide-and-seek if that matter! But do your best to take your family off the WiFi craze for a few days and enjoy a nearly work-free meal prep and enjoyable conversation! It will be an experience you never forget!
Do you have a special outdoors activity planned for this Thanksgiving Weekend?

Why Whiskey Is A Camper's Best Friend
You may be the type of camper who wouldn’t think of camping without whiskey, no matter what park regulations say, but it’s actually good for a lot more than campfire fun you’ll sorely regret the next morning.
Backpacker’s Survivor School explains why a bottle of whiskey is a great way to keep your outsides warm…if it isn’t already marinating your insides, that is.

10 Fail Proof Holiday Gift for Travelers, Hikers & Backpackers
It is that time of the year again! Holiday season is almost here and joyful cheer is definitely in the air. Gingerbread latte is back on the menu at Starbucks, Christmas tree decorations are taking center stage at every store, fall colors are at their most vibrant as days get colder and people’s smiles get warmer. It’s time to start thinking about what you want to get for the loved ones in your life. If they adore being outdoors and love spending time on the trails, you can make their day extra special by getting them something from amongst these 10 great fail proof holiday gift ideas for the travelers, hikers and backpackers on your list!
When looking at clothing, it’s key to ensure pieces are of great quality (wouldn’t it suck to get something that didn’t do what it’s supposed to?!) as well as packable – for example, the best jackets are stowable in their own pockets!
And before we go any further, here are some tips you'll want to keep in mind:
Tip 1: Avoid buying hiking boots unless you know for sure what your giftee wants, their exact size in that specific shoe, and only after they have tried them on.
Tips 2:Â Buy items at an outdoor store with a great return policy like REI or from Amazon Sellers offering Lifetime Warranty on their products! If they can go into such lengthy measure to guarantee the satisfaction of their clients, they sure are doing a great job.
However, if you’re drawing a blank when it comes to shopping for a traveler, hiker or backpacker, check out these suggestions for gifts guaranteed to not only be used, but loved and appreciated.
1-Â Waterproof Camera
Most of the time, travels and outdoor activities like hiking and backpacking (mostly during the rainy season) involve water. Whether it is a beach destinations like Cancun and Costa Rica, and water activities like kayaking, snorkeling and swimming, going around or into water feature heavily in those activities. This is where a waterproof camera is indispensable for capturing elusive sea creatures like turtles and the underwater beauty of the ocean in all its glory. The Olympus Tough series of cameras have been an amazing addition to my regular DSLR gear. Compact and portable, sturdy and tough, completely waterproof and with zoom capability underwater, these cameras have taken some astoundingly clear photos of underwater marine life during snorkeling, swimming camping and also rafting. They even came in handy when ziplining!
2-Â Backpacking or Day Hike Pack
Those who like to travel light always appreciate a well thought out backpack design that allows them to pack everything they need while still keeping things handy. To help you decide, read BACKPACKER MAGAZINE'S review of the best backpacks for 2015 or check out the Cross-Breeze Frame Backpack, from Outdoor Products. For longer trips a bigger backpack is ideal, but the smaller sizes are great for an overnight camping trip or just a day hike. Backpacks that boast an ergonomic fit with comfortable padded straps and roomy interiors are a definite win!
3-Â Binoculars
Whether spotting migrating whales along the coast, bird watching or seeking monkeys high up in the tree canopy, binoculars are one of the best holiday gift you could give! We always carry one with us on all our trips and are constantly amazed at the clarity, color and sharpness of views seen through the lenses which the naked eyes would have gone otherwise unnoticed. True to the brand, Nikon makes some spectacular binoculars and the ACULON A211 is one of their most popular, well worth the price investment for getting up close to all the action. We’ve used these binoculars in all types of scenarios, in concert halls and auditoriums to get a closer look at the people performing on stage, in rainforests and on trails to spot wildlife and birds, we even keep them handy on road trips and camping trips because you never know what you’ll encounter!
4- Socks
Yes! That's right.  A hiker can never have too many socks. If you’re feeling fancy, go for Darn Tough, but the REI brand is affordable and great.
5- First Aid Kit and First Aid Kit Items
It’s one of those things we don’t like to buy, but love to have. A gesture that'll be much appreciated by your loved ones and show them how concerned you are about their safety and well-being
6- Rainproof Notepad
Sometimes the best ideas come while on the trail!  From the torrential downpours of the Pacific Northwest to the blistering heat and humidity of a Florida summer's day these little notepads helps writing field notes in all weather conditions.
7- Headlamps & Lanterns
You can never justify spending $$ on a lantern but always look at them adoringly. Sure, we don’t need a lantern, but this little extravagance can brighten up our campsite – literally. As for an headlamp, it's the must have for those who which to keep their hands free while in the outdoors and still enjoy and bright and clear view of their surrounding.  Four outdoor experts recently reviews to best and worst of the VITCHELO™ headlamps and their findings are thoroughly revealing and eye opening. You can also rely on The Big Outside's review of the V800... You'll understand why VITCHELO™ has conquered the #1 spot on two Amazon categories and will certainly won't move from there any soon.
8- Universal Travel Adapter
Traveling abroad frequently? The Bonazza Universal Travel Adapter works in 150 countries and includes two USB ports and comes with a Lifetime Warranty.
There's nothing sexy about travel adapters, which let you recharge your gadgets while visiting countries with weird-looking outlets. It's rare to find one with more than a single USB port, a problem for anyone packing more than one mobile device, and does any hotel room in any country ever have enough wall sockets?
Bonazza's Travel Adapter tackles all these issues, offering two lightning USB ports and iPhone and Mac compatibility connector in a fairly adorable cube. If you ask me, this is a perfect holiday gift.
But don't take our word for it. Watch this outsider's video review and draw your own conclusion:
9- Luggage Scale
Travel makes you feel like a jet-setting A-lister, but there's nothing glamorous about excess baggage charges. Read more about this luggage scale here.
10- Base and Mid-Weight Layers
Again, this is an item you can always benefit from! If you’re penny pinchin’, stick with REI’s line – affordable yet effective. If you’re willing to splurge, Patagonia (Capilene), Icebreaker, and SmartWool all make top-notch apparel.
Backpackers and hikers, what are you hoping to score this holiday season?

1-Â Build a Large Camp Fire and Set Up a Schedule
Building a large camp fire and setting up a schedule to keep it going all night is going to be one of the main things you need to do. When you are looking at the campfire, you know they are nice to sit around and stare at. However, what you need to do is make sure you have the campfire built for the night and keep it going. This way you will be able to get the right camping feel and know that you are going to be able to stay warm all night long.
2-Â Find the Right Sleeping Bag and Tent
Finding the right sleeping bag and tent is going to be one of the other things people need to make sure they do. While most may not think about this, you need to realize you are going to have to go thru the several different styles of tents and sleeping bags available. It is a good practice to find a tent that is smaller if you are winter camping, which will store more heat, but also to get a sleeping bag that is temperature rated for twenty below the low temperature that people want to have.  With the temperatures dropping off at night, you'll be able to stay warm and enjoy a cozy winter night.

4 Simple Tricks To Keep the Camp Warm in Winter
Camping in cold weather can either be one of the most beautiful experiences you will come to know in your life of outdoor adventure, or it can get miserable in a hurry. The biggest factor that will make or break the trip will be the ability to keep the camp warm during the night when temperatures drop to unbearable levels.
Following these simple tips and tricks can help you make the trip enjoyable and your stay in camp warm and dry --even while on moose hunting excursions in a Canadian winter.
1. Bring the Right Kind of Gear -- or Double Up on Everything
Special gear and equipment is available for surviving sub zero temperatures in the wild --if you can get your hands on thermal sleeping bags and cold weather tents you will fare very well in your outdoor adventure.
But if not, there is no need to miss out on the fun or feel the biting cold of winter's chilly breath --double up on sleeping bags, coats, long johns and woolly socks and you will increase your ability to store heat. Roll out a foam mat under your inflatable mattress for insulation from the frozen earth.
2. Know your Thermal Limitations
Some people are more susceptible to the cold than others --the factors that affect the body’s resistance to the cold include age, percentage of body fat, gender, fitness level, and even metabolism. Two people using the exact same amount of winter gear can be experiencing the cold to different degrees.
If you have never done any winter camping and are unsure of your limitations --it would be a better idea to triple up on the winter clothes just to be sure, better to have it and not need it…
3. Plan to Sleep Warmly
Body temperature drops during sleep, so it is essentially important that you bed down with your body’s core temperature as toasty as you can get it. Have your meal as close to bedtime as possible -- 30 to 45 minutes before bedding down would be optimal.
Make the meal a fatty one as well --cheeses, oils and such are ideal. Fats metabolize much more slowly than carbs and will keep you warmer longer.
Running a couple laps around the campsite is also a good way to bring the body to comfortable warmth right before bed. If you are feeling cold later in the night do a couple of sit ups or press ups inside your bag.
4. Keep you Sleeping Gear Dry
Keeping your sleeping bag dry will keep it functioning at optimal levels and this means keeping you much warmer. Avoid breathing into the sleeping bag even while you are sleeping --yes, it is a lot warmer and cozier to feel your warm breath but the moisture from your body also hampers the function of your bag.
When you get out of the sleeping bag in the morning, expel all the air from it before the moisture from your body has a chance to cool down begin collecting. By being fastidious about the dryness of your sleeping bag you will prolong its function and keep yourself warm on the harshest winter camping trips.

Why is Autumn The Best Time Ever to Go Camping
There are a lot of people that find autumn to be their absolute favorite season. This is a time of year when the landscape is changing along with the weather and it can be a perfect time to make your way outdoors to enjoy all that nature has to offer. If you have always felt as though camping was simply a summertime activity, you should know that autumn is the perfect time to take on a camping adventure.
When you get ready to take a camping trip in the autumn, you will find that there are plenty of things to see and do. Not only do the trees look amazing and they are just right for snapping pictures, but the weather is mild to make it just right for hiking and other outdoor activities.
While the sun is out and the air is clean and crisp, you will be able to soak up a great deal of sun, which will give you a healthy dose of vitamin D. For the evenings in the fall, you can snuggle up next to the fire or wrap yourself in a warm blanket inside of your cabin or your tent and enjoy a perfect night of rest.
If you are thinking about visiting a campground, you will usually see that they will be fairly empty during this time of year as most people schedule camping trips in the summer months. As an added bonus, this is also a perfect time of year to forage for wild berries or to even spot fungi that is known for growing in autumn.
No matter what, you are always going to find that autumn camping will be just right for giving you a bit of time that you can enjoy for yourself and just take in all that nature has to offer. You never have to dress for the heat or the cold, you can simply dress in layers and take on the weather as it comes.
New Post has been published on http://vitchelo.com/traveling/travel-adapter-why-you-should-not-even-think-about-traveling-abroad-without-it/
Why You Should Not Even Think About Traveling Abroad Without This…
One device to rule them all… Here are 3 facts you need to know.
Fact #1
When you leave your country, you should be concerned by the different plug shapes and electricity voltages, since there’s no one standard socket shape or voltage.
Why? If you don’t do your homework ahead of time, you may be unable to use your electrical devices. Even worse, you may damage them by plugging them into the foreign outlets.
So how do you avoid that?
When traveling overseas, you'll most likely need an international plug adapter. If traveling with certain devices, such as older hair dryers and irons, you may also need a voltage converter or transformer. For example, your 110V electric toothbrush will not work with, say, Italy's 230V power unless you have both a travel adapter plug AND a converter.
But what is a travel adapter?
It’s a little device that simply allows your device's plug to fit into a foreign outlet.
Fact #2
The vast majority of us use to think adapters and converters refer to the same thing, nothing could be far from the truth. An adapter is NOT a converter.
Converters and transformers change the voltage of electricity to match the voltage of your device, but adapters do not.
Now comes Fact #3…
How to determine if you need a converter?
It's simple, you need to check the power supply label of your device whether it's single, dual or multi.
Single-voltage items have a small voltage range. If you see something on the power label that looks more like 110V AC or 120V AC, it's a single voltage device. These small ranges are designed to accommodate voltage fluctuations only and require a plug adapter AND a voltage converter and/or a transformer for international travel. Single-voltage devices include older appliances, such as hair dryers and irons.
Dual-voltage devices use a slash to separate the 2 voltages. Example: 120V/240V. Common dual-voltage devices include newer hair dryers, electric shavers and toothbrushes, irons, coffee makers and tea kettles. These DO NOT require a transformer or converter.
Multi-voltage items use a dash to indicate the range of voltages. Example: 100-240V. Common multi-voltage devices include laptops, e-readers, tablets, smartphones, cell phones, MP3 players, cameras and battery chargers. These DO NOT require a transformer or converter.
Plug adapters are much smaller, lighter, and, thankfully, they're also cheaper. Many common personal devices like an iPhone charger, laptops, and cameras that people like to travel with can be easily powered up abroad with a world plug adapter because they are dual voltage devices.
Please remember that plug adapters do not convert electricity; converters do that, but you won't need one for a dual voltage device. These devices should read something like 100/240V (V=voltage) or 110~220V AC (V AC=volts, alternating current).
