“Neither do I.” Emma bit down on her thumb. The pressure on her nail hurt, but it was enough to bring the thought out of her head. She didn’t want to think about giving up the ring. Not just yet. Without noticing what she was doing, Emma began fidgeting with her ring, spinning it around her finger. “I’m going to hate giving this up.”

“right?” viviette was glad she wasn’t the only one. “i want to say that i don’t want to give it up because i’m helping people, but i think it’s for the more selfish reasons. like being able to be someone else for a short amount of time. even if we’re fighting crime and putting our lives in danger. queen bee is still as much in the spotlight as viviette bourgeois is, but i get to do things on my own terms. within reason.”

Emma crossed her arms, tapping a finger on her forearm as she began thinking. “I… never actually thought about that. I just assumed we would be doing this for a while. A couple of years maybe? Until someone can take over for us?” She didn’t really remember when their parents had stepped down from behind superheroes themselves. She remember taking the Chat Noir ring with her to school… and that was it. She loved being a superhero from the moment she had transformed for the first time. Emma felt nauseous at the idea of it all coming to an end.

viviette loved being queen bee. sure, leading a double ( sometimes triple, if you counted her school life and her career as separate lives ) life was hard, but it wasn’t being queen bee that was the worst of it. it was being viviette bourgeois. there was no freedom in being her civilian self. “i don’t want to give it up, to be honest,” viviette said, resisting the urge to readjust the comb in her hair. “i like being bee.”

“Well… yes. That’s a fact that I can’t deny.” Emma was starting to wonder if she took after one of her parents or both of them when it came to both work ethnic and levels of clumsiness. She sighed, a smile forming on her face. All of it showed a bit of relief. “Thank you, Vivi.” She tried to hide her laughter, but once Viviette started laughing, so did Emma. “Absoultely.”

viviette just giggled, remembering all the times she’d seen marinette rush around. she’d always felt bad that she couldn’t do anything to help, but it was a little entertaining, even if it was at a close friend’s expense. “you’re welcome,” she said. “i wonder how long we’re going to be leading this double life for.” anyone listening in might think she was referring to her normal life and her modelling life, but it was the added responsibility of being a superhero that she really meant.

Emma hummed in a sign of agreement. “I think that they have tripped over each other at one point.” She couldn’t think of one. “The only difference is that I’ll be doing it on my own.” She was hoping for some help from her father or an employee when she was getting started. “Hmm. You can work both. But you look like an absolute queen in yellow.”

“i wouldn’t be surprised if they did. i love your mum, but sometimes she can be a bit clumsy, especially when she’s rushing.” adrien had more balance, probably from all that modelling he did, but if hurricane marinette was on the warpath, no one was safe. “you won’t be on your own, i’m sure. your parents will help, and you have all of us.” viviette planned on taking some courses in business herself. she thought she would have a better understanding of the fashion industry that way. “oh, of course, but i look like a queen in everything,” she laughed.

“I don’t know if Mama and Papa would be for it, but I am determined at this point. You’ve seen how stressed they can get.” She would have to ask her father about the business next time she talked to him. She shrugged.“It just came to mind. I mean I know I could work a catsuit, and I look good in black.” Emma snickered a little.

“oh, i have. i really have. sometimes i’m worried they’ll both keep running around at such a fast pace that they’ll run into each other and fall down.” she admired both adrien and marinette for what they did, but damn, did they overwork themselves sometimes. “believe me, i know. i’m more of a yellow girl myself.”

“I do. To be honest, it looks like it could be fun in some weird way. Unless I fin something else, that’s going to be it.” Emma didn’t know what she wanted to do with her life. At the moment, her path seemed set for her. “Hey, if I adopted a bunch of kids, would that make me a French Batman or something?”

“well, yeah, you’d have a fashion empire. that’s pretty amazing.” viviette was still learning how to conduct business, but from what she’d learned, she couldn’t help but look up to adrien and what he did. it seemed stressful, though rewarding. “what -- where did that come from?” she laughed. “i mean, i guess? but you’re more of a catwoman. a non-villanous catwoman.”

viviette liked her white christmases. she preferred the cold weather to the hot. “see? only if you want to, though. i’m sure your parents aren’t about to force you to take over or anything.”

“true... and i still want to celebrate christmas. with snow, preferably.” she couldn’t imagine the temperatures being high on christmas. “i’m sure you’ll figure it out. are you having a hard time narrowing it down or do you just not have any ideas at all?”

“how can i do that?” dizzy said frustratedly, folding her arms. “i’m just a kid with a talent for making pretty things. not like i can change anything. but you’re viviette bourgeois! you and your brother are rich and fancy and people listen to you- and you’re pretty, you’re a model. you have influence.” dizzy pointed out, frowning. “i have a wall at home with pictures of you and cameron tacked on. it’s been a big inspiration for me.”

“that’s good to know.” dizzy said, smiling slightly. “i’d like to have some friends.” she paused and nodded, laughing. “yeah! lucifer’s our cat, or he used to be. now he drinks in the parlor with his creepy friends. i don’t like them.” she said, getting quiet for a moment. “i wish cosima was my real  sister. she loves me.my real big sister… i don’t think she likes me all that much. ”

“well, i’ll be your friend.” viviette wasn’t surprised by the description of lucifer. it seemed to match up with what little she’d been told. she would have commented on it had the girl not spoken up again. this time, she was surprised. she probably shouldn’t have been, what with her knowledge of the family so far, but it was hard for her to imagine siblings not loving each other. she and cameron had their differences, but she never doubted he loved her, and most of the people she’d met had good sibling relationships. “i’m sure she loves you. maybe she’s just bad at expressing it.”

“ ‘cause they thought blythe and i would be bad for each other, because we’re both nice. that plus granny doesn’t really want me to have friends. she wants me to just do the chores and mix chemicals for hair dye and stuff.” she said, shrugging. “i don’t know. i’m friends with cosima, though. and my cousin Juliet is actually nice to me.”

the more viviette heard this girl’s story, the more she wanted to find her grandmother and give her some justice queen bee style. she couldn’t, though. “don’t worry about what your grandmother says. you can be friends with whoever you want to be here,” she said. “cosima? you know the morgensterns too, huh? it’s good that your cousin is nice to you, though. as she should be.”
