“Just a few minutes ago you said you read and surf the Internet...” She said mostly to herself. “Alright. What’s your favorite thing about humans?” She asked setting the book down beside her.
“You asked me about favorite stories, I just assumed you mean books. I read news articles and other stuff, but not stories.”, Mark huffed.
“And why give me a book when you want to talk! You`re confusing!”, Mark threw the book slightly, letting it hit the ground with a thump.
“Fight me.” She snapped jokingly. “What kind of stories to you like?”
“I told you I don’t read much.”, Mark said, sitting down onto the ground again and opening the book. How would they talk if she told him to read?
She scoffed “We’ll your skin is abnormally cold and very nice... shit.” She said to herself. “Your voice is... very deep. Damnit.” She hit herself in the head “Well you’ve got a tentacle growing out of your back. No that’s cool. That just really cool.” She looks through the book again and again. Sighing to herself. “Well. You’re a really cool guy.”
“I do not.”, Mark huffed, being very sure that there were no tentacles out of his back. Though there could be, but there weren’t.“I still think you’re really weird.”, he muttered, picking some random book
The woman gestured to the massive bookshelf. “Knock yourself out kid. I probably should have looked up the book before I did anything. But you know. No risk no reward. Hey look I made a new friend. If we’re friends. If you don’t want to be friends that’s alright sorry to bother you.” She stumbled through the last part of her sentence. “I don’t think of you as a reward I just think not dying is a reward. I mean what could have happened.” She continued to stumble over her words nervously.
Mark tilted his head as she rambled, sipping his drink.“You’re weird.”, he said in the end, setting his now empty mug down to stand up and look what books she had.
She chuckled “I understand. Don’t think I could get any worse though.” She joked gently ruffling Mark’s hair. “What is your favorite book?” She asked getting up and looking through her massive bookshelves. “I get books from leftover estate sales. And I read them sometimes and others slip through the cracks. Find something you want to read. I’ve got lots. This is the one I summoned you with.” She held a black leather bound book with beautiful green symbols on it.
“I still don’t understand how you summoned me. I’m not some kind of demon.”, Mark huffed, drinking his hot chocolate.“I haven’t really read any books yet.”
The woman seemed so happy. “I’m glad you like our world. Could I see your nonhuman form?” She asked. “If you’re comfortable with that.” She quickly adds.
“No.”, Mark shook his head. “What I really am would drive you insane, most likely. If your lucky my form will waver and you’ll see some things peek through. Keeping a human form isn’t easy sometimes.”
The woman seemed very interested. “How often to you come to the human world?” She asked “What is your inhuman form?” She seemed very excited and she practically vibrated with joy.
“I live here!”, Mark exclaimed and huffed. “I don’t really leave earth a lot. I like it.”, and was much more interesting than drifting aimlessly through space.
“It’s indescribable.”.
The woman sighed sitting down next to Mark. “So, tell me about yourself.” She said crossing her legs and turning towards him. “What do you do for fun? What’s your name?” She asked.
"I'm Mark!", Mark answered with a smile, sitting cross-legged and holding the cup in his hands."I do lots of things! I read a lot and surf the internet, I walk around a lot too! I'm always learning about humans!", he exclaimed, happy.
“Alrighty stranger. This will be the best hot chocolate you’ve ever had in your life!” She exclaimed dumping some milk into a pan with many other ingredients. After a few minutes she hands Mark a large cup of hot chocolate. “Drink up.” She hands him a fluffy blanket as well.
“How am I a stranger if you brought me here? Or came to me? I dunno.”, Mark took the cup, eyeing the offered blanket, but not grabbing it.
Well I like you!
“I like you too!”.
I guess not? I don't know
“Me neither!”, Mark shrugged.
But you're not mean or evil or anything like that!
“I don’t have to be to be an abomination, do I?”, Mark asked, tilting his head.
Why do people think you're an abomination?
“Because I am!”, Mark exclaimed.
She gasped “Oh no I’m sorry!” She yelled “I didn’t mean to offend you. Do you want some hot chocolate. You’re very cold.” She offered.
Mark huffed, pouting. “I’m not offended. Not really.”.“I’d like some hot chocolate. I know I’m cold.”

Mark pouted, but let himself get pet.
“Honestly I was thinking of an Erdrich horror when I summoned you. But you’re adorable. I’m pretty sure you would be adorable if you where an Eldrich horror.” She mused to herself “would you like some tea?” She asked “What do you want to eat?”
“You’re mean!”, Mark huffed. He didn’t understand humans, at all.“I don’t like tea.”.
“Well you’re not quite what I was expecting when I heard Erdrich horrors...” Anon thought out loud. “You’re awfully humanlike!” She exclaimed “I’ll get you something to eat and we can talk about who you are.”
Mark tilted his head.“Well I want to look human!”, he huffed and crossed his arms. It was bad enough when his form wavered, he didn’t need o terrify someone!
