she/her throwaway hobby sideblog where i review models. no media on asks; just send the model's name. (please don't message me if i don't know you already!)
blog. i don't intend on linking my main one. she/her mutoid. the blog is primarily for warhammer posting, i guess putting out my takes on new model releases and my hobby progress once i get my new space to do so set up.
i doubt anyone would but in theory you could submit a model for me to review, regardless of whether it's gw, gunpla, whatever.
oh yeah and DNI if you're zionist, fascist, "gender-critical," or anything like that. this blog is not for you.
clearly some bizarre sort of flamethrower - it could go either way but i personally hope it's from aos because it would be quite strikingly weird if so
december's monthly miniature is a deathwatch marine. i think they're neat insofar as space marine monthly models go, though i'm more a fan of grey knights than deathwatch personally. i like the sensors and such on their backpack and their rabbit ears. is he a recon guy? maybe. i might pick him up, i think my girlfriend might think he's cool.
guilliman for sure the kind of guy who would tip 7% on a 1am panda express doordash ordered because he had a craving brought on by a three hour session of finding a minority attractive for the first time
nurgle daemons are neat to me because unlike the other chaos gods there are explicitly daemons who used to be humans (plaguebearers) and they're starkly different in temperament than the daemons who weren't (nurglings, great unclean ones, beasts of nurgle, etc). just think that's neat
you know, when they revealed those darkwater pestigors and they looked like this
i was pretty satisfied. they looked more or less exactly like i thought they were going to, and i thought they were decent.
and then they showed off the standalone pestigor kit
this was probably one of the most standout reveals for me, genuinely, and i cannot wait to get my mitts on it. they look genuinely creepy, especially the way some of them are painted with blank eyes. i love this new grimmer direction nurgle is being taken
for one, warhammer quest. i'm always excited for a new warhammer quest, and seeing that this one was nurgle-themed, i was very much so. i don't plan on actually getting the box, nor any of the models save as singles off ebay, but they mention some of the nurgle forces in this box will get standalone releases, and i may go for that.
i've already reviewed the four core heroes when they were revealed prior, so i'll skip those.
kelthannor is neat - i always appreciate a centaur, and he's a solid one. i've never quite been sure what the centaurs in aos actually are (elves? a separate species?) but i find it curious they seem to only ever be released in spinoffs. in any case, solid, but not standout.
this one, drasher, is probably the most interesting of the heroes to me, save for his oddly manicured locks. he looks like he deserves a more wild hairstyle, but maybe this was a deliberate contrast. it calls to mind something like beauty and the beast, however, when i doubt this was the intention.
the wizard looks more druid than wizard, but i think that's neat. only now as i write this am i realizing his staff is directly connected to the ground, which is an interesting touch. his forest familiar is interesting.
first and foremost of the nurgle forces, and the nurgle reveals as a whole, gelgus is quite possibly the most overtly malicious nurgle model i've seen in a long while. unlike the death guard, plaguebearers, and chaos warriors, who are mostly depicted as dour, or the other daemons, who are often shown to be jolly and silly, gelgus is not merely joyous but overtly cruel in appearance. the most recent examples i can think of are the new great unclean one back when that dropped, and festus the leechlord before that (who himself gets a model update this reveal). his expression and pose is that of conscious, gleeful evil, and he is no frills about it - he's a miniature unclean one in his own right. i love all sorts of details on him - the halo of brambles, the brutish cleaver with trapped victims inside it, the subtle asymmetry to his body, he's a standout of the entire reveal.
the witch who accompanies him is bizarre enough to the point that i actually thought she had a mount before i realized the giant creature was in fact part of her body. i really want to see her from multiple angles to get a better sense of her mutations; i can see the arm holding her cauldron and wonder what exactly it attaches to. an extremely weird sorcerer all around, i like her - and i'm glad nurgle is getting more female models.
this named knight is decent, but i like the visual appropriation of his bloated arm as a shield. he's okay.
the pestigor shaman is exciting - i was extremely hyped for the pestigors, and wondering how they were going to be executed. very well, as i've seen. i want to see the strange glob he's holding from multiple angles.
i'm going to split this post now - undoubtedly not the first time i'll do it. will continue at a later time.
