Say what you will about her (and believe me, there is plenty to say) but the one thing I’ve always loved is that, like C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling wrote about British kids who were forced into a life-threatening war and had to deal with the social/ personal repercussions, and like C.S. Lewis, she too wrote from experience.

The difference is Lewis fought in WWI and Rowling fought depression.

All right, yeah, I’ve got one.

Sirius spent a year trapped in Grimmauld Place, forced to roam the corridors of a household wherein he had been abused and neglected and forced to be someone he wasn’t. A year revisiting memories that he had tried to push down years prior. A year seeing the house decay until it was as fragile as his being.

Could you blame him for developing a few phobias?

The sudden crack as it reminded him too much of Kreacher’s entrances and the times when the elf would catch him and Regulus misbehaving, reporting their behavior to their parents.

The ripple of a cold breeze as it brought back images of scaly hands and billowing cloaks, of shrieks and shivers.

The curtain…

Oh yes, he began to fear the curtain.

The very curtain that separated him from the portrait of one Walburga Black. He wasn’t sure why she had bothered putting a curtain in front of the portrait. Then again, as he shook upon seeing the ordinary fabric against the windows, he realized that this was probably her plan all along. After all, growing up, she knew how to manipulate him better than anyone. She knew that should her portrait rest behind a curtain, looking at any fabric of the sort would send a cold hand down his spine. Of course she knew. Mother knows best.

But of course, he was able to partially overcome that fear when Harry faced the terrible portrait. Sirius was there at once, charging forward with fire in his eyes, seizing the slippery curtain, pulling it shut.

It wasn’t the last time he had to do so. In fact, as the months passed and he (and the house) fell deeper into disrepair, he got used to touching the curtain. No longer did it cause him to shiver or gasp. As summer turned to autumn, as autumn turned to winter, as winter turned to spring, he allowed himself to touch the curtain with ease. Until he was no longer afraid of it.

So much so that when an alert swept through the house, shouts that Harry was at the Ministry with his friends, Sirius was able to calmly cover Walburga as he headed towards the door. He did so without fear.

‘After all,’ he thought as he prepared for his journey to the Ministry, ‘what harm could come from a curtain anyway?’

The tea about Leakira

I love the LGBTQ+ Voltron stans and the Klance stans so much. They are honestly such a blessing. Because of how season seven ruined rep and did a bunch of characters dirty, @kciths and @captainlumin have come up with a reboot of Voltron called Defenders of Tomorrow.

In this reboot, we get all of our main characters, except they have different names and almost all of them are lgbt+. Lance is Leandro, a bisexual born and raised in Cuba and Keith is Akira, a gay, Japanese-Filipino man. Shiro is Hachiko and is married to Dante, aka Adam. Allura is Alzina, she’s either pan or lesbian, that’s not confirmed yet. Romelle is Rowan, a lesbian and Pidge is Layla/Pana, I believe that they’re a genderfluid asexual. The names for the other characters haven’t been talked about yet.

This reboot/headcanon is quite different from the Voltron we know now. It has a futuristic, cyber-punk theme and takes place in a city almost overrun with this reboot’s equivalent of galra.

The creators have promised to make Leakira (LeandroxAkira) a canon endgame to makeup for the queerbaiting we experienced from VLD. Hachiko and Dante are also married, making up for VLD killing off Adam before we saw him and Shiro together.

There are so many designs for Leandro and Akira right now, so I just want to go over my favorites.

Leandro:

-Has short, light brown curly hair

-Cuban

-Freckles

-Has an undercut

-Has a couple of piercings

-Bisexual

-Wears goggles to help with his sharpshooting

-Uses double handed pistols

-He has Lance’s original jacket, but it’s way longer and baggier
