Excuses

Don't wait for someone else to solve your problems for you. Your situation may not be your fault, but its your responsibility to get out of it if you don't like what you're in. I find that a lot of my friends and myself in the past make excuses for where they are and what they are doing. They say " well its not my fault I'm here and blah blah blah" and I reached a point where I realize no the past doesn't matter. Its the future that matters. It doesn't matter how you got here and why you are where you are. It matters how you are going to deal with the hand that you've been dealt.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

There is always a lot of talk about how people should figure out what they’re passionate about and try to build a career out of that but I agree with you that it usually makes more sense to focus on your passions after you’ve already secured your financial future. It’s not really the message people want to hear but when financial independence can be achieved in 5 to 10 years, why not achieve FI and then be free do whatever you want for the rest of your life? Knowing that the sooner I reach financial independence, the sooner I can start dedicating myself to my true passions really helps me make the frugal choices necessary to reach FI as quickly as possible.

When you have limitations and you understand your limitations and you stay within yourself, you can be great. You know what you can do and what you can't do. In America, it's a big problem for us.

I would like to take this time to thank you everyone. There have been times when I lose faith in humanity or forget why I'm working so hard to achieve this idea of "financial independence". You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But every time I go back to for the reunions its reminds me that yall are one of my own. Some of us talks to one another more than others. Once everyday. Once every other month. Once every family reunion. But it doesn't matter because in the end you all are family to me. I am blessed to have yall. I am grateful to the older cousins alpha and beta for your efforts through the years to keep us together. And 2 years ago, Alpha introduced Nara, I thought, "Wait a second could it be?" And now I know for sure, I just added one more to my wolf pack. I am extremely grateful to yalls parents (aunts/uncles) for treating me as one of their own. 20 dollars every Christmas for the past 2 decades might seem insignificant at the time of giving. They might think its stupid that I spend it on buying useless shit, but I'll never forget where it came from. I will return the favor when time comes. It makes me sad while typing this, but we all know our grandparents don't have much time left. We all wish them to be a strong and healthy for many more years to come. Something else many of us overlook is the fact that many of our aunts and uncles are approaching their 50's and 60's as well. I hate seeing them turn from grapes into raisins. I wish they could stay as grapes forever, but there is no fountain of youth. The thought of it has made me cry to myself many times before. I blame the korean dramas for making me sensitive. Work hard and cherish those around you before they wither away. May you all have a wonderful and safe 2015.
