i know this is a bit of a controversial topic in the american horror story fandom but i feel so irritated after reading something lmaooo. i rarely see this in the general fandom anymore but sometimes i find such bullshit and i just ???? this is primarily about thredson, but i’ll talk about tate too as this occurs with his character too. it’s perfectly fine to appreciate villains such as these two. both were very well written and had good arcs over the course of their seasons. what isn’t okay is excusing their actions and being apologists. both tate and thredson had motivations behind their actions, but that in no way makes what they did okay. 

the main thing that’s annoying me is how apologists for these two characters treat the female characters who played a major role in the story. lana is the essential point here, but i’ll start with violet and vivien. vivien was raped by tate. that’s a fact and not just a punchline to jokes and memes. she was impregnated with the antichrist and the birth led to her demise. what happened to her shouldn’t be excused. violet harmon is more than just a footnote in tate’s own story. she was a complex character who was so much more than just simply his lover. she does not owe anything to tate.

and then there’s lana. oliver thredson apologists antagonizing lana honestly makes me feel sick to my stomach. lana was a bit morally gray in areas by the course of the season, but she was in no way a villain. lana winters did not deserve to be forcibly committed into a sanitarium for the criminally insane all due to her sexuality. lana winters did not deserve to be tortured and raped. lana winters did not ask for what happened to her and she did not deserve it. no one deserves it. she did make decisions within the season that weren’t entirely justified but that does not mean she deserved anything that happened to her and it does not mean thredson should be excused. these three ladies deserve more than to be demeaned and pushed aside.

ngl i think reducing the lana/thredson storyline to THIS is pretty gross ???? i get it’s just meant to be harmless fun but many people shared similar experiences to lana during that time period & went through conversion therapy. she was imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital against her will all due to her sexuality where she suffered immense torture. not to mention what occurs between lana & thredson later on in the story. oliver's attempt to make her heterosexual was all based on his own psychotic desires so idk i find that post gross as heck & it keeps coming on the dash on my personal lmao but that’s just my thoughts
