I Too Have an Intro

This is a sideblog so I can keep my main blog free of my hyperfixations ( though I definitely post more than just media here. I may begin to post poetry here again. tbd)

My main blog is @owo-writing-man. It's not very interesting. It's just about my life. (I have DID, so a lot of posts are about that. I don't really mention it here, but it's not like I'm hiding it. If we are mutuals, you can DM questions bout it.)

I use any pronouns. I have a preference for they/it. And if you have to gender me in a binary, I would prefer he/him before she/her. I'm absolutely fine with she/her being used on me. But I am not fine being seen as a woman, and I fear I don't trust the general public not to equate pronouns with gender.

I am asexual (that does not mean I'm a puritian)

I'm anti censorship. I'm not out here trying to yuck anyone's yum. It's pretty fucking easy to not interact with things you don't like. You can block tags and blogs for a reason. I have several tags blocked and I am a-okay with blocking people too.

I'm not a safe space. The internet is not your safe space.

I write Fanfic once in the blue moon. Currently my a03 is just Burn notice. I am working on 3 other fanfics that MAY see the light of day if i feel like it. (likely not)

I want to implant Shawn and Gus into every media I watch they just have that immense power to seamlessly fit in and inevitably elevate whatever is going on. it literally wouldn't matter it could be a post-apocalyptic wasteland and Shawn would still show up at the survivor camp wearing shades drinking from a pineapple like "wow this place is sadder than Gus's dating life in high school" and Gus would be all "the water here isn't even being boiled properly Shawn. I'm not staying at this camp I will not be getting dysentery I'm already fighting my sciatica flare-up" and all the people at the camp would be like "what the actual fuck" as Shawn and Gus walk off bickering into the distance and disappear

Started watching psych. Must say I love the intro.

I could go over the words and screen caps they chose. But that's not why I'm here

I'm here to talk about the type of intro they chose. Which is sorta interesting. The history if opening credits.

But it's the type of intro you would see for earlier sit coms.

Rosanne, golden Girls, full house. (I say earlier as if I'm not talking about the 90's )

If you want a example for younger demographic shows it would be like boy Meets World.

I'M ACTUALLY NOT NAMING MANY EXAMPLES (Oh to be born in 05)

But opening credits in general were on a decline starting in the 1980's (for movies)

And for tv shows they started to decline in the late 1990's

Not to say they were out of style. Plenty of shows still had them Angel, arrested Development, Charmed. (Ugh gotta rewatch charmed)

The 2000 is also when you see a change in opening credits. Some were doing away with credits at the start

I mean we remember enemy of the blog Lost's intro.

Other shows had intros but not opening credits. See our beloved friend Burn notice.

(I will say here opening credits have never become obsolete. Just not common)

ANYWAY. psych had the option to not do an intro, do an intro with no opening credits. And it decided to copy it's forefathers formula of comedy credits. Get those nostalgia points. (I think if shows I discuss are 10+ years apart I get to say nostalgia)

And I support it. And it also ran for a while. So when it started in an era where credits weren't uncommon. It ended where they were.
