You can quite easily feel this movement yourself, as Javal’s associate M. Lamare discovered in the lab of the Sorbonne, right around the same time Hering made his observations. Just close one eye, rest your finger lightly on the closed eyelid, and read with your other eye; you’ll be able to feel a whole flurry of saccades.

"What’s your favorite thing about your mother?" "She loves life more than anyone I’ve ever known. I hope she doesn’t mind me telling you this, but recently she’s had some health problems. And her health got so bad at one point, she called me and said: ‘I was starting to wonder if there was any reason to go on. But then I had the most delicious pear!’"

Now that we are in the midst of visual design week in the program, I’d like to share this beautiful short film by one of my favorite college professors, Inge Druckrey. I shared this in my tumblr a while ago before I started this course but it is worth repeating. The film is all about visual design and learning to see and how she teaches visual design. I highly recommend it. She is also the wife of Edward Tufte, the information design king. His books are also one some of my favorite design books.
Amazing!
