having poor circulation is great because people will touch your hand and go 'oh! you're so cold!' and for a moment you get to experience what it's like to be a vampire in a romance novel

Uhhhhhhhhhhh V4-V5? Mmmmmmmm slab
Red slab (ungraded) felt V5-V6 by far the hardest of the new set! Feels insecure the whole way up :0
Grey slab (ungraded) felt V4-V5. MY FAVOURITE KINDA BOULDER RAHGHHGHHH!!!
Pink slab (ungraded) felt about V4-V5 the way I did it.
A girl can dream 🤤
From my online research, it looks like boulder people dislike slab climing, even hate it! Well, they are wrong, it's awesome. I love it. I love it in large part because I am currently avoiding any and all overhangs, because my shoulders are unbelievably weak and verrry slowly recovering from a months-long case of bursitis and calcific tendonitis. (That wasn't fun!) But even that aside, I really do love routes that are all about balance and precise foot placements, shifting the body weight, slow movements, beautiful. They make it feel like a dance! There's currently a slab route that my gym actually gives the difficulty grade of 5 (on a 1-9 scale) but it feels comparatively easy. It may just be perfectly suited to my body proportions? Everything is within reach, all the movements feel natural .... except for the last one that's a bit scary, but it's also high up and I am being really careful post-injury. But this is the best kind of bouldering! The internet is wrong!
