They're called torri and symbolizes a transition into a sacred place. They're frequently found in Inari Shrines because successful business men/women donate torii as gratitude. Each torii also bears the donor's name. People come here to worship the god Inari. Inari is a popular deity here, and there are over thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari. The hike to the top of the mountain took us approximately 1.5 hours. We also rushed it because we were short on time. Careful though, there are a lot of tourists at the bottom of the mountain and the crowds grows smaller as you continue hiking. Walking through this sacred ground without the crowds was very peaceful and definitely one of a kind experience. #Kyoto #Japan #Inari #FushimiInari #Hike #GoPro #iThinkImAProNow #iWish #Vacation #TravelGram (at Fushimi Inari Taisha - 伏見稲荷大社)
