Oh my god, this is my song! You totally have to dance with me.
Brad blinked a little trying to figure out if he even knew the girl before shrugging, it hardly mattered. Normally he would reject but he felt amazing so he just offered his hand. āYou got it.ā
āNo.ā Brad muttered as he glanced around confused and slightly agitated. The air was hitting his chest weird, and she could totally tell. At least that was the rationing in Bradās head. āThis is not my spot.ā He repeated.
āSomeone is going to walk by us and wonder what I did to upset you.ā With another roll of her eyes, playful as ever, she held up her hands in mock defense.Ā āPlease forgive me. I was under the impression that you all came for the music. Thanks for setting me straight.ā His agreement was all she needed to hear before starting over towards St. Elmos.Ā āAre you a Coke or a Pepsi guy? I know, super personal question, but this is a moment of truth.ā She shifted her bag, letting it bump against her waist instead of swaying wildly in front of her. Thankfully it appeared that the place wasnāt packed, which meant there wasnāt a long wait for one of the better booths.Ā āYou choose where we sit, Yalie.ā
āAnd Iād tell that that you smile way too much and were way to friendly and it pissed me off.ā He laughed, not actually able to think of a situation where Jocelyn would irritate him. āNo- god, no. Itās all about the ass.ā He literally cringed at himself, despite the fact it was openly a joke it was probably the most Alpha Beta thing heād ever said. āI- Pepsi.ā He said, hanging his head in shame. āI know, I know. Iām a filthy heathen. But in my defense my go to pizza guy stocks pepsi not coke, so it may just be positive reinforcement training.ā He glanced down at her bag, holding his arm out in case she wanted him to carry it for her. Honestly, some days he thought that was the only reason Agnes kept him around, carrying all her bags that is. At her question he pointed to the booth in the back corner. āThatās my spot.ā
āI knew youād have my back. Youāre welcome to join me in my jail break. I mean, unless I want to go in circles Iām gonna need a right hand manā¦ā
Brad didnāt laugh. He couldnāt, instead a knot formed in his stomach at the joke, an odd misplaced sense of guilt.Ā āIām happy to help you out.ā He smiled, a little forced but he didnāt want to seem condescending or pitying, so he forced himself to brighten up a little.Ā āAnything for my favorite blonde.ā Brad grinned.
āCool points for British slang.ā She laughed a little harder at his reaction, the idea that she could hurt a brick wall was too amusing.Ā āYeah, twoish days. Iām surprised people already havenāt started walking around dressed in nothing but tastefully placed feathers.ā Trying her best not to grin, she looked up into his eyes and took out phone to check the time.Ā āThis is entirely random, but are you by any chance hungry? I just got off work and Iām at the point I could eat a horse.ā It was a bold move, one she wouldāve avoided, but with each passing day her former bravery was coming back. Making her feel much like the girl she had been before everything had gone to shit.
āOh if thatās the case, git and sod too.ā He laughed, knowing that his slang got a little outside of norm some days. The brief period that ālike a bossā had come back had been a good couple of months for his outdated phrases. āHey donāt knock the outfits, itās the reason most of the guys come.ā He joked lightly, he tended to try not to stare at scantily clad girls during the festivals but hell, sometimes his dumb guy brain got in the way. āIām not all that hungry myself, but I could definitely go for a drink while you eat.ā He grinned, happy to spend time with Jocelyn. She was pretty cool in Bradās eyes.
āYeah, the Yale guy is a total tool.ā Jocelyn smirked, rolling her eyes playfully while nudging Bradās side with her elbow.Ā āDonāt read into this, but maybe skip the shirt this year? May find the slip of the cups cease. I could be wrong, but itās good advice.ā
āComplete wanker really.ā He laughed, shuffling back half a step as she playfully elbowed, earning a mock wince. At her next statement, he really did try not to smirk. Failed horribly unfortunately. āI guess so. Itās in what, twoish days?ā If Brad was going to walk around shirtless, he was going to make sure he looked his best which unfortunately meant ruling out pizza bloat. Broccoli and sit ups. Blegh.
āHow could you forget the one time of year where this town becomes tourist central, especially with all the weed and noise?ā
āBecause Iām a god damn idiot apparently.ā Brad laughed, covering his face for a moment as he thought of being dragged to it again. āItās the time of year where drunk girls get grabby and all my shirts get covered in beer.ā

Jocelyn could hardly remember a time sheād laugh so hard and freely, it had been a lot longer then sheād want to admit, but it was nice and certainly appreciated. The more she did so, the less she had time to be inside her head. āYeah, it was either that or waiting tables, and funnily enough, I canāt balance for crap. Books talk back less often, and they have something more to offer than snarky comments. Iāve been looking, no luck yet, however there is an armoire that gives off this vibe. Iām waiting for the day I open it and find Mr. Tumnus waiting for me.ā She knew better than to judge a book by itās cover, but most of the football boys wouldnāt have known a literary reference had it slapped them in the face.Ā āI find that hard to believe. You strike me as the type to have his very own Kit. Knight Rider⦠I have a thing for really bad 80ā²s shows. I blame my mom, I donāt think sheās ever quite swallowed the fact that weāve all moved on.ā Once the pain left her leg, she let out a sigh of relief, finally able to get comfortable. Her brow arched at the mention of Yale, her face taking on a look of almost disgust.Ā āYale? Iām sorry, but weāre gonna have to stop this conversation right now. As a girl who got into Harvard, itās against the rules of the world for us to be talking, much less enjoying each others company.ā There was a slight jealousy that bubbled through her, it was an ivy, he got to live a life that she had worked her ass for, assuming he did as well, but unlike her, he didnāt have to stick around to make sure he could still hold up.Ā āI was supposed to go this fall, but after⦠the fall, it was thought that a semester here at Ravenwood would suit me better, just to be sure I can handle it all. I tried appealing, but itās apparently out of my hands.ā She shrugged, trying to avoid pity if at all possible.Ā āHow did you like it though, Yale? Was it everything Gilmore Girls made it out to be?ā
āIāll let you in on a secret,ā He uttered before leaning in as though it were something that actually needed to be whispered. āWaiting tables fucking sucks. You definitely made the right call.ā He leaned back with a grin, trying to forget how hard you had to bust your ass to make a lousy tip from people who had more money than god. āIf you see the hairy bastard, you let him know that Iām looking for him. God damn living in my wardrobe rent free and what do I get? Fur all over my clothes. He says itās my dog, but I know better.ā He ranted teasingly. Brad had always enjoyed reading as a kid, maybe itās because he read to Miles a lot when they were younger and it sort of stuck. Or maybe he just liked correcting people like an ass. āOh god, not Knight Rider.ā He groaned, turning his face from her in mock disgust. āThatās so bad, if youāre going to watch trash T.V youāve got to go all out and just bite the bullet with baywatch.ā Brad couldnāt help but laugh at her anti Yale attitude, a playful competitiveness rising in him. āHarvard? Oh, ew. But you look like such a nice girl- god, this breaks my heart a little.ā He mocked, placing a hand over his chest before the tone shifted subtly. āThat sucks.ā He wasnāt sure what else he could say, honestly heād be cut if it were him. Heād come from nothing and worked like a maniac to get in and if they went and told him that he had to wait it out? Heād be furious. āOne semester though, thatās not too bad. Another few months with your friends and then you get to betray my good faith in you by heading to the demon witch school.ā He teased, trying to lighten the mood. āIām going to be totally honest and let you know that I havenāt actually seen any Gilmore Girlās. But itās amazing, nothing like here. Sometimes itās nice when people donāt know where youāre from, you know?ā
