Stephanie had noticed the blonde girl when she first came into the party. She had looked lost then and she looked even more lost now. Sure that the small group she’d been talking to wouldn’t miss her, Steph walked over to the blonde. “Hey, are you okay?”
brooklyn froze when someone approached. apart from her conversations with her instructors and talia, she hadn't really been involved in many verbal exchanges. after stumbling over her words for a few moments, she lifted the cup up and showed the blonde. “someone gave me this. i'm afraid it might be poison.”
central city night life was a sight to be seen. however, it was quite overwhelming for someone who had been living in nanda parbat since she was six years old. after barely an hour of exploring a street party that she had happened upon, she found herself standing with a beer that had been shoved into her hand, though none had passed her lips as of yet. she was hesitant to try it, the stench of the amber liquid was quite strong and the actions of others around her were... were not something brooklyn wanted to copy, and the cup in her hand seemed to lead to that. “what -- i don’t... what is this?”
thirdofhisname:
Rick Flag The Third played his acoustic guitar out on the beach, one of his few freedoms to relax. “ I’m the penthouse pauper; I got nothin’ to my name. I’m the penthouse pauper; baby, I got nothing to my name. I can be most anything, 'Cause when you got nothin’ it’s all the same.”
it had been a long time since brooklyn had heard music -- real music. it was nice, relaxing even and she could feel all her stress and worries slowly disperse with each chord the male played. when it ended, brooklyn couldn’t help but clap. cheeks darkened in response to her sudden actions, but the smile remained. “that was pretty.”
heartcfahero:
“I’m sorry. You know I like you and all, but if you touch my potstickers, you will lose a hand.”
“oh, uh... i wasn’t -- i wasn’t going to touch them, i swear! i just -- what exactly is a potsticker?”
oftruthiism:
when she hit the target, a small smile was there “right on point…” not that bad, the woman couldn’t just get rusty about that so that’s why she was here, practicing archery, training could wait till later when she was alone maybe.
brooklyn had been perched on a nearby bench, watching the other woman with a mild curiosity. she had undergone knife throwing and other types of target practice while she lived in nanda parbat, but she had never truly been good at it. this woman, however, was excellent. “what’s the secret?” she piped up after a few moments of silence, cheeks darkening as a response to her nerves. “how -- how are you so good at that?”
i really wanted to keep leah but her plot/background didn't make sense without her older sister so i've decided to reboot her, but mostly she'll still be the same other than a few tweaks to her background !!
[ virginia gardner ] just checked back into central city. oh wait, that’s actually [ brooklyn campbell ]. the database tells me that they are [ eighteen ] and that they spend their time working as a [ bakery assistant ]. however, under the mask of darkness they are also known as [ torch ] with the powers of [ pyrokinesis, energy absorption, fire breath, accelerated healing, fire immunity ]. word on the street is that they are [ loving ] and [ naive ], hopefully that will come in handy.

“Don’t mention it.” Courtney offered a smile while she took a sip of her coffee. For a moment she glanced at the female who was sitting down. “Well it is just another book about knights, magic and a whole bunch of other weird stuff most normal people would not believe in.”
crossing one leg over the other, leah glanced down at her phone to make sure that she hadn't missed any messages while she waited, but it turned out she didn't so her attention went back to the other blonde. “oh... so, like harry potter?” leah asked, chewing on her tongue slightly, she was still getting used to the different time and the knowledge that she was supposed to hold but didn't. “i don't believe in the stuff in harry potter, but i do believe in magic. do you?”
the-stxrgirl:
Courtney had found an empty spot in a rather busy starbucks. She was currently reading some book which one of her friends had given to her and at this point she was fully invested in finishing the book. The book were stories about Camalot and it’s various heroes. Due to her seeing all of the events in real life she was able to see how things were actually different from the way they were written down. She suddenly noticed that someone was standing near her. “You can sit here if you’d like. I’m just sitting here alone so I really do not need all of these chairs.”
“oh uh... thank you,” leah fidgeted with her fingers before slowly slipping into one of the empty seats the other had spoken about. she had been waiting on her older sister but it seemed like she was going to be a no show. “that looks like an interesting book, what’s it about?”
speedsterbart:
“Let’ just hope that they taste great too.” He lifted a brow. “Who’s that?” Bart had been in this timeline for a rather long time but there was still so much to learn and he wasn’t too certain about who the female was talking. “I haven’t heard that name before.” He stated while he glanced at her hand which was bandaged. “But it is nice to meet you Leah, So what happened with your hand?”
“i’m sure they will,” leah laughed. “oh, uh... a character in a book i’m reading. my sister got it for me, it’s actually quite good. it’s about magic and friendship and fantastic beasts,” she grinned, enjoying the fact that she had someone to talk to about it now. “she’s the smartest girl in the story. quite admirable, really,” she then added. “this?” she lifted her injured hand. “i was in a store when it kind of... blew up,” leah mumbled. the events that weekend still weighed heavily on her heart, but she had to smile through it. “i’m okay, though. promise.”
speedsterbart:
“Well thank you. I really tried my best.” Bart glanced at the female as he began to laugh. “Goblin representation is really important these days. They are certainly unrepresented.” He offered his hand while still laughing a bit. “I’m Bart and you are?”
“well, they look great -- and smell great, too. definitely done an awesome job,” leah smiled. “absolutely -- hermione granger stands for them, right? at least they have an advocate in someone.” she might have gotten her facts a little wrong, but that was mainly because she had only recently discovered the book series. after a pause, she reached out with her non-bandaged hand and took his. “i’m leah,” she smiled wide again.
speedsterbart:
“They were supposed to be snowmen.” Bart chuckled, looking down upon the tray of freshly baked misshapen cookies, “They look more like… snow-goblins now which is actually way more awesome!”
“i think they look adorable,” leah beamed as she looked at the baked goods. “i'm sure goblins want to be represented just as much as anything else at christmas, they'll be honoured by this,” she went on, attempting to joke.
silvxrbird:
“Move it.” Thomas said to someone as he wandered past the person. It had been around the three maybe four days since he last slept, he had gone around patrolling and making sure that everything would be fine. He was honestly just tired and he wanted to rest but he found himself unable to rest. Everything reminded him of the uprising which he had witnessed once before, he did not want to see those events unfold on this earth too. Thomas knew that he shouldn’t lash out at someone so he turned to the other person and apologized “I’m sorry, I am just tired that’s all…”
leah startled, almost jumping high into the air when a commanding voice pulled the future teenager from her absent thoughts. she held up her hand and gave the male a sheepish look, every inch of her expression showing how sorry she was for not paying attention. “i'm -- i'm sorry, too. it's okay, you don't have to explain. i think everyone is super tired at this point.”
Healing is a byproduct of hope and honesty. Honesty with ourselves and with each other, and having hope that you’re actually going to be okay. Because you are—and you’re not alone.
