People’s souls are like gardens. You can’t turn your back on someone because his garden’s full of weeds. You have to give him water and lots of sunshine.

Robin never took Libra for the type to wield an axe despite having seen him do so many times in battle–even being the one to take into account his use of an axe before placing him anywhere on the field. At the moment, seeing the male chopping firewood simply for the sake of it … seems rather odd, if only because she wouldn’t expect it to be the male’s choice of action in his free time. Or, maybe she would, according to Virion– “I suppose that is true …”
“… Perhaps a trip to the baths could do the trick as well? If I may be so assumptive … but you seem rather worn out, Libra. It seems as though you do need a moment of rest, as I’d hate for your weariness to worsen …”
He means no disrespect as he turns away when Robin speaks, when he averts his gaze to look towards the loose shapes of the wilderness that surrounds them. The silhouettes of their tents seem, in the moonlight, like dormant beasts, unnatural and intrusive on the rest of the landscape. He should be much more attentive, but Libra is in this moment more aware of the weariness that than he had been before.
“The baths do sound as if they’d be lovely,” Libra assented. “There would certainly be a pleasant degree of privacy there, at this hour.” His chuckle seems more like a quiet exhalation. “You needn’t worry about me, milady. I swear that I will not let my behaviors become a burden.”
Her eyelids flickered as the weight of sleep fell upon them, but the previous Exalt refused to take heed of their wishes. She had to keep reading out loud in order to improve her pronunciation…her current state could not be permanent, otherwise people would look down upon her- as if Emmeryn were broken. Her hands carried the diction book she had found lying around lazily and she was uttering a word that was a challenge for her at the moment. “… Seren….seren…dip…?”
Serendipitous.
The day has been long, time seeming to stretch thinner and thinner the longer he wanders through the streets of the city. It is an unusual sense of restlessness that has compelled him to step into the busy streets, an unplaceable tension that manifests itself somewhere in his chest with each irregular beat of his heart. So Libra walks.
When his eyes alight on her, she is impossibly close, a figure of golden light that he never thought he would draw near again. He follows the curve of her fingers, the halting sounds of some word that she is trying to form. “-- Serendipitous,” Libra says before he realizes himself. His next heartbeat feels almost hollow.
“... Beg pardon, Your Grace. I did not mean to intrude.”
“So, you dedicated your life to Naga?” The knight asked him incredulously.
“Indeed.” Libra inclines his head slightly, in proportion to the slight rise in the pitch of his voice, his answer a half-question, half-amused. He offers a gracious smile.
“A man’s purpose is his own to decide, and I have decided to serve.”
