I just found this blog and I really needed to leave you a message on how much I adore your Hawkfrost design! My design for him also has a substantial amount of white on his body (and face in particular) and it was super cool to see another design for him that looks like that.
Hi Anon,
Thanks so much!! That’s really nice to hear. ^^

Well, it was inevitable. Can't say no one was expecting this, right?
I'm putting an official close on WR. This is a chapter of my life that has since ended, and to drag it out and pretend it hasn't is not only a disservice to myself but to all following this account. Finishing WR just isn't realistic anymore, from my own impossible standards to the loss of interest from the team and myself.
I was 17 years old and just finishing high school when I started this project, which began more or less as a place to air out and string together some HCs. Which is mostly what it has remained!
Sorry to anyone disappointed, I really did want to write out this series, but it's such a daunting, looming thing now with everything else I have on top of my plate. Not to mention, I'm just... a very different person now.
That being said, even if a lot of things were not solidified, there were a lot of ideas that I was happy with, and with no story coming from them, I'd like to pay them forward to the fandom to do whatever they'd like. I'd like to host a Q&A on the Discord sometime in the near future.
Thanks for the support these last few years!!

Why couldn't Firestar just be cinnamon?
Hi Anon,
I’m not sure what this is in reference to, but surely Fire could be cinnamon. WR-verse Fire is red because I want him to be.

As an antidote to the website's new Top 5 Mentor-Apprentice Pairings article (not that the choices are bad ones, but seriously, leave that sort of thing to the fans to decide), what are your own Top 5?
Hi Anon,
Hmmm... let’s see if I can remember 5!
Fireheart/Brackenfur - He wasn’t officially his mentor but Fire basically shouldered the sole responsibility of training Brackenpaw while Greystripe was sneaking off to see Silverstream. As uncool as it was for Grey to shirk his responsibility to his apprentice, and despite how stressful it was for Fire, trying to cover for his friend, Bracken ultimately ends up becoming a valuable ally to Fire and I feel like it has largely to do with him taking over Bracken’s training.
Yellowfang/Cinderpelt - Naturally! An iconic duo. I think anyone who started reading at the first arc, even if it was years ago, remembers Yellow and Cinder. As much grief as I give these books, I always did find Cinder's progression into a sassier version of her self, likely because of her time with Yellowfang, really amusing.
It’s so hard not muddling canon and WR-verse in my head for these, jsyk... WR-verse has been my canon for like, 4 years lol.
Brightheart/Jayfeather - This came to my head, and I can’t be sure if it’s simply because I personally feel shafted by Firestar not living up to his promise to give Bright another apprentice after Jay started his medicine apprenticeship. I also think Bright and Jay’s dynamic could have been really cute. So I guess this one’s more of a ‘what could have been.’
I don’t know if there’s other mentorships I can remember that are worth ‘top 5′ing. Firepaw’s mentorship with Bluestar was an integral part of his growth as a character, but I don’t remember too much of it to be honest. Plus, he spent most of his early adult life keeping her from going to war with other clans, which is not an ideal relationship. Cloudtail and Bracken/Thorn (I think) famously mentored way too many cats, but I don’t remember any of their relationships. All I remember about Whitestorm and Sandpaw was how tired White was of having to keep the kids from bullying the newcomer.
Unless I’ve gotten it all wrong and you’re asking me about WR-verse! I’d be happy to answer for those.
--Laika
If you don’t mind me asking, who is Cherryleaf? Is she one of Robinwing’s kits?(Because in Bluestar’s Prophecy, Brindlekit and Frostkit where mentioned to not be her first litter, even though no other kits of hers that where born before this are never mentioned as far as I’m aware) sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, I’m to lazy to go looking for it.
Hi Fatpug9000,
That’s the case! She’s Longtail’s littermate.
Brindleface and Frostfur are no longer Robinwing’s, though. ;)

I think it’s been 3 years(?) since the original political marriage AU? So thought it’d be fun to do a visual update.
If a cat is a chimera, could they have blue eyes even if on a colored coat?
Hi Simply-Yelly2,
I don’t know if there’s a direct connection to blue eyes and chimerism. Personally, I don’t think so. I think the ones that we’ve seen still have something to do with the distribution of white-spotting.
--Laika
hey! would you mind helping me with possible babies for a black karpati mom and a ginger/ginger-and-cream sire?
Hi Absolutely-Flabbergasted,
I wish I could! I’m afraid I know very little about the karpati gene.
Anyone who knows more about it is welcome to reply!
Sorry about that!

How many books do you plan to do? Will it be the traditional six from ItW to TDH or will it be less? Will the Clans have their own ranks, tales, way of assessing apprentices, ways deputies are chosen, etc.? I'm especially interested in ranks considering we only really got something like that with WindClan. Lastly will the medicine and warrior code go under some changes or will they mostly be the same?
Hi Anon,
The plan is to condense it down to 3 books per arc, so each series will be a trilogy.
Different clan ranks haven’t been decided, but are being considered. I wasn’t a fan of the tunnelers idea, but I do want to diversify the clans; enough to make it so that there is something to be lost by combining them, as Tigerstar wanted to, but not too different where it’s difficult to believe that they are part of the same culture and origin.
I can say that the current substitute word for “medicine cats” is healers, and “she-cats” (bleh) are referred to as the actual counterpart to the word “tom,” which is “mollies.”
I have been considering changing the healer codes, or at least the origin of some of their stricter laws because that whole Mothflight thing is just silly. And, they’d be implemented just for a sub-plot for the healers to try and change them one day, because some of the rules aaaaree siiilllyyy. And Warriors as a series scoffs at the idea of change, but change can be good, especially if its change of concepts or traditions that are flawed and outdated.

Will Skyclan still exist? I’ve always felt like the power of three should have been the three bringing Skyclan back since the cat who gave Firestar the prophecy was the Skyclan cat.
Hi Anon,
In a sense! Skyclan has been in limbo with us for a while, but right now the plans for it take place after the currently anticipated 4 arcs. That might change though-- right now it’s definitely on the backburner.
--Laika
Will Jake and Tallstar still be a thing? I wouldn’t be to sad if it wasn’t anymore, I honestly don’t see it
Hi Anon,
Jake as a whole is not really a thing in WR. I don’t like how his character startled to meddle with the clans in the special edition books, both with Pinestar and Tallstar. I don’t like how Tallstar’s alliance and positive relationship with Firestar has been insinuated that it has more to do with his relationship/promise to Jake than it has to do with Firestar as a character.
Part of feline culture outside of the clans is that tom cats rarely have anything to do with their kittens, which is most often the case with real life toms. The clans are seen as strange by many outsiders because fathers are encouraged to be an active part of their kittens’ life (though it was not always this way). Jake mostly wanders around the neighbourhood that Fire and Scourge are from, and their moms chat, which is how they even know that they’re half-siblings.
I was already long disconnected with the Warriors books when Tallstar’s edition came out, so I have no feelings or attachments to Tallstar x Jake as a pairing, or Jake as a character.
I also don’t like how meddlesome Firestar’s family in general has become.
What this means for Tallstar is that, however we re-imagine his novella, it will simply be another tom that Tall meets and sparks a romance with. I have no intention of taking away the representation there for a m/m pairing, I just really don’t care for Jake as a concept.

hi i know it's probably gonna count as a spoiler anyway, but could you pleaaase just list the major canon plot points you've changed in your rewrite, without really giving away what exactly the change will be?
Hi Anon,
I think the first arc (TPB), as far as plot goes, contains... not major modifications?
Our biggest changes in the first arc are character personalities and dynamics, world-building and how it effects the clans and their residents. Like, when Willowpelt eventually dies, Greystripe is going to be sad about, not just mention it like an easter egg 30 books later.
Changes to character personalities don’t majorly effect any plotlines as far as I can recall, either. Modifications are intended more to give light to why a character behaves a certain way, given their actions in the story, or to actually provide them with a personality when there was almost none to speak of, prior.
Plot point wise, I think the biggest change is Ravenpaw and what jumpstarts Firepaw‘s investigation into Redtail’s death.
Oh, yeah, and we get Redtail appearances! He takes the place of Spottedleaf. She overstayed her welcome.
Firepaw and Scourge also genuinely have history. I want to take advantage of their family relations, since Erin even bothered to make it a thing. It also becomes a motivating factor in Scourge’s character arc and journey.
Whitestorm is also Greystripe’s dad. Doesn’t have huge consequences to the story, I just like it! Greystripe and Darkstripe’s relationship as half-brothers is also explored more.
Dustpelt and Brindleface are also no longer siblings, so he has no direct family ties to Ferncloud. Hooray! He also does not catch feelings for her or pursue her romantically until after she is already a warrior. Double-hooray!
Whaaat else... ah, some Riverclan warriors have stronger opinions about their merge with Shadowclan into Tigerclan than others. Very strong feelings. There is a trial. Mistystar becomes leader in this arc.
I’m sure there’s some more minor ones I can’t think of off the top of my head, but there you go. I think we make larger deviations in Bluestar’s Prophecy.

I know what your version of Firestar looks like, but what about his parents? You mentioned his mother is an Abyssinian mix, But what does she look like? What about Jake? I know he's a purebred Abyssinian, but is he black or red based?
Hi Anon,
I think the current models we have are a more somali-looking Jake and a caliby with white for Nutmeg. Jake is black-based with high rufousing, Nutmeg expresses both black and red.
Keeps the resemblance between Jake and Fire (to a lesser degree, it’s not really important to the story in WR) without making them clones, as well as making it so that Scourge doesn’t need to be a tortoiseshell, which was more important to me because I like her blue ticked tabby look.
--Laika
Could an Abyssinian mix appear as a blue Abyssinian 🤔 Father is a black cat. Thank you regardless of reply!!!
Hi Anon,
The physique of the mix might be different than a purebred Aby’s, taking into account how different the father’s body type and bone structure is compared to the Aby mom. If the father’s a super bulky Maine Coon type, odds are the kitten wouldn’t solely inherit the fine-boned looks of the mother. It may have the shape of a “moggie” more than a purebred.
As for the mix’s pattern, it’ll depend on what the father has coded for his own tabby stripes. Being solid simply means that his body has been programmed not to express the pattern, but the genetic coding is always there. If the father has the genetic coding for ticking, then the mixed kitten has the opportunity to keep the homozygous, non-striped ticking of a purebred Aby.
But, if the father does not have any genetic coding for ticking, then the mixed kitten would be a heterozygous ticked tabby, meaning that there will still be stripes on their face, legs and tail, but their back/flank would remain ticked like a purebred Aby.
The mixed kitten can be blue, depending on what colour the mother is or what she carries, and whether the father carries the genetic coding for dilution as well.
Hope this helped!

Hi! I was wondering if you planned on including any "uncommon" colors, like cinnamon? I know you plan on sticking to the more dominant genes, but does that mean you're using no recessive ones, like chocolate?
Hi Anon,
I don’t have any yet, but we’ll see!
I’ll be much more lenient to include it in non-clan characters, like any kittypets, or those descended from kittypet lineages. Not super realistic, since most house cats are still dominant colours like black tabby, tortie, blue and white, but it could be fun!
Millie was a character I was considering a chocolate classic tabby design for. Daisy, also, would make for a cute cinnamon or fawn tortoiseshell colourpoint.
Shadowclan, for this reason, may be more prone to more uncommon colours because they tend to crossbreed with non-clan cats more often.
I’d also LOVE to have a bengal-type cat swoop in one day.
-- Laika
I searched your blog a bit but couldn't find any mention of this- how come there are some black tabbies that don't look brown underneath the stripes? They look almost solid black but they also have black stripes?
They’re probably “black smoke tabbies” which aren’t tabbies at all, but are black cats with smoke showing ghost markings. Some brown tabbies can get quite dark though, because there’s a spectrum of possible colors based on wide banding and rufousing polygenes.
