Illana is the absoloute WORST for daring little!Callie to do stupid stuff - all of which Callie does with no hesitiation
this is not a drill people, I've posted!
Natalie fainting/getting sick when she gets her blood drawn. I feel like she’s okay-ish when she sees other people’s blood, but her own she gets freaked out. She regresses so young after.
Poor Nat, I can't really relate since seeing anyone's blood makes me feel faint.
She goes to the doctors by herself since she insisted she didn't want anyone there (or to bother anyone) but she ends up feeling so sick she can't drive herself home. She sits in the car and uses one of the new cell phones the girls insist they use when they leave the house and rings and rings and rings the home until someone answers and can come pick her up. This is probably Lottie or Misty, and they bring Nat's special blanky and her favourite mix-tape, aswell as an extra body to drive the other car home.
When she gets home Nat is just positively doted on, with warm bottles, some painkillers, and lots of cuddles. The CG who picked her up gets her into soft pjs and a nappy, and brushes her hair out of her face. That evening she even just gets a plate of all her favourite snacks/fruits for dinner, since she's so little and pushed away the main one.
Little!Tai who is completely inconsolable: she keeps having flashbacks to that night with the wolves and she's so, so scared. Everyone's tried to help with distractions and comfort but it's not working, even Van's tried but Tai just struggles to get away from them and keeps screaming that they're (Van's) hurt.
Eventually teen!Shauna comes downstairs to see what the ruckus is about - that isn't the usual screaming she hears, this ones a different voice - and sees its Tai. She tries her hand at kneeling in front of her and catching her attention and to everyone's surprise... it works.
Shauna, shocking everyone and making Van a little jealous, takes Tai up to her room to stay away from prying eyes and just sits with her until she's calm enough to snuggle up. Shauna calls for someone to bring up a bottle and she just lays with Tai, reading her stories and watching Tai doze (albeit very fitfully) for a little bit.
((As soon as Tai's calmer and had as much of a chat with Shauna as she can (Tai's about a toddler right now) Van hesitantly comes in and Tai latches onto them, smooshing her hands into Van's face to make sure they're 100% okay. At dinner that night, Van is subjected to Tai's sloppy feeding because they were too soft to say no when Tai wanted to make sure they 'had a full tummy'))
What would every one get for their regressed selves on their birthdays?
Ooo-hoo-hooo this is fun!butt
Honestly I think the specifics would vary greatly on whatever they fancied on the particular day they were out shopping, but to generalise I think that...
Mari, Lottie, Van and Nat all buy themselves something they're technically supposed to have... maybe it's something above the age-range and isn't too safe for them to have like those pretty barbie accessories Mar's been eyeing but isn't allowed in her room (She puts lots in her mouth) , or something thats been banned for some other reason (Looking at you, Van, and the great slime war)
Jackie, I think, would buy something pretty and shiny - glass "diamond!" necklaces that she's not supposed to have since she'll probably lose it and be distraught or leave it somewhere she/others can get when they're regressed young enough to try mouthing at them.
Shauna's going for some 'grown-up' book she can feel some unexplainable urge to read but not while she's older/allowed to read it. So she buys the book and shoves it under her mattress where Jackie can't find it and stays up late scaring herself with a gory story when she's in a pre-teen headspace.
Misty, Crystal and Tai buy strange things I think. Maybe hobbies they'd otherwise not ask for. Tai wants something like crocheting or knitting but is too shy to ask incase she's rubbish at it and Misty wants to try pinning butterflies (but doesn't want anyone to know for reasons I'm not sure of).
Laura Lee has amassed a great amount of things she's found over the past year and collected, like small stuffed animals, collectables, and other things that've caught her fancy.
Lottie's is stolen things she's kept. Little treats she snuck in her pocket on her last shopping trip that she very well could have brought but didn't want to. Maybe some cute pacis as well as older toys - kid!Lottie finds all these stolen goods very exciting!
Thinking of sick baby Van 🥺 normally they are so loud and rambunctious but throughout the day they just get quieter and quieter. When they don’t put up a struggle getting a bath or getting into pjs tai knows something is up.
Van doesn’t even want to watch tv. They just want to lay on tai’s lap and suck their thumb. They look soo green and so sooo little.
Tai texts Shauna to pick up bleach, saltines, and pedialyte on her way home cause they’re gonna need it later. Tai knows Van so well and what’s probably about to happen that night.
Poor Van!!! When they go out to play with Mel, but they refuse to go hunting in the bush for worms and just sit on the trampoline, Tai gets confused but shoves it aside.
Later, when Tai calls them up for a bath, Van hardly even grumbles or brings in an armful of toys - they just take the ones left in there from someone's bath that morning. Then Van doesn't even struggle into their pj's or use their towel as a cape, alarm bells start going off in Tai's head. Tai gets them cozied down in their bed with lots of teddies around them and lets them snuggle and rest, demanding Shauna (who's one of the ones Tai trusts most when she needs help) get all she needs. Shauna's uncharacteristically happy to help, given how much Tai helps her with Jackie!
Callie, who didn't mangage typical baby development because so much of her early life was simply her mum trying to keep her alive.
Shauna, who only wants the best for her baby being told how many things she's done wrong until it becomes so obvious (in hindsight its Callie’s being a little that stunts her development, not anything Shaunas done) that she can't take it anymore
Nat one day just having the randomest biggest tantrum ever at the store because she saw a Disney princess doll that she wanted and Lottie said no because they were in a rush. Nat usually doesn’t have tantrums so it takes lot by suprise
Lottie is so unsure of what to do?? She needs to get the electrolytes and bread back to Shauna so she can get some fluid/toast into Jackie who's sick, so she doesn't really even glance at whatever Nat's pointed out. In fact, it hardly even registers, she's too busy finding the correct brand and flavouring Shauna's asked for. Maybe Nat attempts to stuff in under her jumper or something, but the plastic packaging makes it too bulky and Lot notices, and puts it back and gives her a half-hearted scolding. Well, Lottie's version of a scolding (a disappointed look and a "That's not nice, Nat, we don't steal. It's naughty) which is EXTREMELY hypocritical. Nat starts with a shrill whine in her throat and starts shaking her head like crazy - Nat's version of a tantrum - but when Lottie sighs and attempts to usher her along it escalates into a full on shriek and crying.
Lottie can hardly understand Nat, not really even knowing what's happening, and now she's stressed because she needed to get these back to the house ASAP.
Eventually Nat just grabs the doll and shoves it up in Lot's face, repeating the doll's name over and over again. (Maybe its Mulan or Cinderella - I can't decide which. I think Nat would admire Mulan's strength and bravery, but Cinderella gave her hope of a new/better life while a kid) No one really gets why she's so special to Nat, but it was one of the old VHS Nat always used to watch as a kid when her Dad was out and her Mum asleep on the sofa who took on almost a mythical status to little Nat. She's such an important/comforting character and now Nat can actually hold her??
Eventually Lottie gives in, wanting to get this over with and Nat to not be upset. That night Lottie goes to tuck Nat in and sees that her portable DVD players playing the doll's film and the doll is so tightly held to Nat and she's glad she gave in.
Mari going through a huge swatting and hitting phase
It's genuinely like WW3 has started in the house. Mar's cranky and finds the easiest thing to do if someone takes her toy or does something she doesn't like is to just swat her arm out and aim for something solid. Younger/more gentle littles get so upset when she hits them, and more rough-and-ready little ones, like Van or Shauna, get feisty right back.
It stresses the hell out of everyone and they all have no clue what to do - Mari just won't stop!
How do we feel about... agre..... lottie.... little.... lottie....
Little Lottie owns my heart! I find her one of the most easiest to write in young headspace since she spends so much of the show in (for lack of a better phrase) in her own world. So much of her behavior is easy to translate into regressed behavior. Saying that, I also think it makes me very rigid in keeping her to that and it kind of feels that I can't add in my own little quirks since she is so well fleshed up through the show! What about you?
slightly late birthday ask (happy birthday!!)
What would little!Callie’s dream birthday party entail?
Thank you <33
Ooo, lots of things! Callie's mind would change so much even she has trouble thinking about it!!
Callie wants her party to be the coolest thing ever, so she wants to go over the top. Shauna and Jackie manage to talk her down - they're not renting out a whole chuck-e-cheese-esque restaurant for about six girls! Eventually Callie would probably settle for whatever activies she likes at that moment (maybe something like cupcake decorating, board games, tennis or other games) before she gets to re-watch her favourite movies with her friends and stay up wayyy past her bedtime playing and gossiping! Plus, of course, lots of presents!!
Van insisting on creating the perfect baths. It takes them forever to find the toys they want for their story, what bubble bath they want, what bath color fizzy thing they want, if Van wants baby soap or the big kid ninja turtle one. Van keeps running back and forth from the cabinet to the bath in just their pull up.
Van just needs the perfect bath! There's so many things that Van checks off and gathers up, including things that maybe aren't supposed to go in the tub - like teddies or comics - and Tai has to wrangle out of their hands. THEN when Tai finally thinks she's gotten Van ready for the bath, Van suddenly yells because they've remembered the toy they need from the hallway cupboard (where the bath toys are kept) and keeps dashing back and forth, much to the delight of the others little ones who squeal and giggle at Van running around half naked!
(Shoutout to @corncob123 for the pictures!!)
Van being so into squishies. They love collecting them and making Tai play fidget trade with them. Getting new squishies is part of their reward system for brushing their teeth, hair, getting dressed, and going potty on time.
Van starts an underground black market that ends up getting banned. They're very clever with getting their squishies too, knowing exactly how many "official" (special stickers that are kept up high and beneath a lockbox) stickers they can add to their charts before the caregivers begin to get suspicious and ask each other how Van earnt them.
Van walking up to people with their paper they drew on with a decline, accept, and add more drawn clumsily on it - but gets so upset if Tai decides to decline the pretend trade, even if Van's getting all their squishies back. The first time Van trades with someone else (Probably Jackie?) and she took her trade away with her?? Oh goodness there was holy hell on.
The caregivers, who have just noticed that every art utensil in the playroom has chew marks, "Okay, 'fess up. Who did it?"
Shauna grinning:
what do you think little callie would do for her birthday?
Oo, probably go out someplace, like a pool-party or playplace (meaning like laser tag, bowling, something along those lines)! Before she was classified she mainly hung out at the mall with her spending money or went to the theatre with her friends. This was strictly no adults allowed!! (much to Shauna's disgust)
I think now she's classified though Shauna leans towards more family orientated things and invites Cal's friends along (afterall, she is usually in the headspace of around a 5 year old). Callie's first birthday after being classified will be pretty complicated, since it stirs up a lot of emotions. Yes, she's 18 now but celebrations look a little different than the norm.
Maybe they head to an arcade (maybe if they're reunited it's Van's suggestion) so Callie and her little friends + Illana can play on all the games, not so "Vannie" can absolutely thrash the kids on the games. Then there's presents and cake back home (or some other venue - maybe they've hired somewhere fun) while the kiddos play, the adults chat, and Illana steals some of the alcohol brought for the grown-ups.
I think there's also a little celebration absolutely private from anyone else, other yellowjackets included. During Callie's teen years this has mainly been a Shauna thing, maybe Jackie too, just looking at old photos and such since Shauna and Callie's relationship wasn't in the right spot. Now, however, Jackie brings back the tradition of a joint cooked meal (Jackie has something else she made herself - little!Callie's not exactly a stickler for food hygeine) and Callie gets to pick some board games and then a film! She ends this celebration all curled up by her Mummy with a little birthday cake still smeared around her face!
