Summary Meeting your soulmate for the first time after a stressful day of work.
✧*·…
It was supposed to be your happiest day. The three hundred and fifty-sixth day after the name on your wrist appeared. Your soulmate’s name.
The day was supposed to be calm, peaceful, so you could be excited about leaving work and meeting your soulmate. Meet him for the first time after knowing his name and imagining him and his touch for exactly one year.
But now you stared at the thin dark lines under your skin with teardrops blurring your vision, making it impossible to read the name that you had already read so often. Wong Hendery. Your fingers glide over the cursive handwriting, moving to wipe the tears off your cheeks when someone beats you to it.
You’re startled at the sudden touch, but you don’t oppose it as the hands on your face radiate a warmth that heats up the skin it touches and lets the feeling sink deep into your body.
Through teary eyes you see a figure kneeling in front of you, smiling sadly while drying your face. Dark hair frames his face, matching parts of the otherwise green sweater.
More tears roll over your cheeks as you blink to see more clearly. As the warmth of his hands reaches your heart it starts to beat faster, rushing blood through your body and waking you from the exhaustion you felt before.
The boy drops his hands from your face and lets them rest on your own, which still lie folded in your lap.
”Hi.”
His voice is soft and his eyes seem to sparkle with the light of many, many stars.
”I’m Wong Hendery.”
He pauses for a second before continuing.
”I believe you’re my soulmate.”
His voice is calm and melodic. It makes you want to listen to it forever and get lost in it. Only a few seconds you understand his words and their meaning, too distracted by the way his mouth moves to form the different letters.
All you could do was stare. Nearly every day of your life you waited for this moment, to meet the one you’re meant to be with. But now that you did, you sat there crying because of your stressful work and pushy colleagues. The first time he saw you and you just had to be bawling your eyes out.
Embarrassed you let your gaze drop to your wrist, reading the name again, for the thousandth time today and move to bury your head in your hands.
But his hands still yours, softly holding them down with gentle strength.
”Please let me look at you for a little bit, I’ve dreamed of this moment for way too long to just let you hide your beautiful face now.”
Shyly you lift your head and finally manage to reply to his words.
”Hi. I’m ——.”
You stutter a little during your introduction, your words breathless and barely audible. But he doesn’t care, he already knows your name by heart anyway – how could he not when he would trace it with his finger or a pen at least ten times a day?
”You’re my soulmate.”
The words leave a weird, but not unpleasant feeling in your mouth. You would need some time to get used to saying those words out loud, especially saying them out loud to him. But your soft words are met with a bright smile and you swear you can feel your heart stopping in your chest as you just keep staring into his face.
Hendery continues to smile as he brushes his hand over your cheek again.
”Can you stand up for me? I would love to hold you, now that I finally met you.”
He reaches out his hand for you to pull yourself up with after he gets out of the crouching position in front of the bench you were sitting on that he was in. With a gentle movement of his arm, he pulls you up without taking a step back, making you stand just a few centimeters in front of him. He’s still holding your hand, now turning it with your wrist facing up, so it shows him his own name, manifested under your skin. Hendery pulls back his own sweater to hold your name next to his, taking in the sight of both of your names joined together.
A small, unbelieving smile makes its way on to your face. You look up from your wrists, back into his face that is now towering quite a few centimeters above you.
His bright smile leaves you in a daze and without thinking you latch yourself into his arms, hugging him tightly, scared he’d be gone as soon as you let go of him. As your arms find their way around his waist, tears find their way down your face again. Partly because you’re so happy to see him, to feel him, but also because you’re scared and frustrated after this long day and meeting your soulmate just seemed to be one of your daydreams, too good to be true.
His soft voice startles you when he speaks again, the close proximity making his breath fan over your skin as a soft wind.
”Let’s get you somewhere warm, alright? You must be freezing sitting out here like that.”
But he doesn’t let you go and neither do you. He holds you tight, his arms wrapped around you, his head tucked next to yours as you bury your face in his neck. You close your eyes when your brain registers his smell through your slightly stuffy nose. You just breathe and cry, embraced by your soulmate. In a weird, unique way you still feel incredibly frustrated but at that moment there was no way you could be happier or more relieved at this intimacy the both of you share.

The already familiar smell is all around you when you wake up. Buried in soft blankets and pillows you open your eyes and take in the unfamiliar setting. You don’t really remember how you got here, but you remember clearly who it was that brought you here.
Hendery.
With his name on your mind and wrist you blush, a little overwhelmed that he was supposed to be your soulmate. The person that would always love you unconditionally and stay by your side to support you. The person you could love unconditionally and without fear and who you could support through every up and down.
You smile and sit up, pushing the blankets off you to get out of the bed. But within seeing that Hendery was nowhere near you and not in this room, (which seemed to be his, judging by the huge sweater and jeans hanging over a chair) you start wondering, where he could be and if you should really search for him.
What if he would think you were snooping around? What if he would think you’re weird for just exploring this unfamiliar setting?
But with a shrug, you get those thoughts out of your head. The first time you met him you were bawling your eyes out and he didn’t seem to mind. He probably already thought you were weird, there was no way to change that now.
Your feet make a small thump as they meet the floor when you glide off the bed. You pull down the shirt you’re still wearing from the day before to cover your whole stomach again and pull up the basketball shorts you find to be ridiculously wide on your petite frame. (Hendery gave them to you in the evening, because he insisted on you not sleeping in jeans for a whole night.) A colorful piece of paper makes you stop in your tracks on your way to the door. It is taped to one of the sweaters on the chair where his clothes lay.
’In case you get cold, feel free to wear my sweater, ——.’
A small heart was drawn beside your name, making your own heart beat faster. Carefully you rip the tape off the fabric and slip into the huge garment. You pull down the black and green sweater so that it reaches your mid-thighs, covering half of the shorts with that process. You just look like you’re nearly drowning in it but the smell, paired with the sweater paws makes you feel as safe as ever. You trot over to the door and open it quietly, not wanting to wake him, in case he was still sleeping somewhere.
He is, in fact still sleeping somewhere, just as you thought. Somewhere, in this case, being the couch. It is quite uncomfortable, but for you, there is no place that seems cozier than your soulmate’s arms to sleep in.
A smile tugs on your lips and you take a blanket off a nearby chair to cover his rolled in form. Your face softens even more as you look down on him and he suddenly stretches out under the blanket, rolling his head to the side.
When you notice your freezing feet you finally find the courage to lift up the blanket and crawl onto the couch beside Hendery, with his stretched out arm as your pillow. You pull the blanket over the two of you, not daring to look at him.
So in a shy matter, you turn your back towards him, but not even 5 minutes later you feel an arm sneaking around your waist to rest on the couch in front of your chest, a body pressing against your back and a face nuzzling into your neck. With the change of position, a grin creeps on your face. You feel Hendery sigh softly, his breath tickling your skin.
Feeling warm and safe you let the sound of his breath and the feeling of his beating heart against your back lull you back to sleep.
~
It’s only a few hours later that you awake again. You open your eyes to find yourself in a similar position to the one you fell asleep in, but instead of nuzzling his face in your neck, Hendery is now propped up on his elbow, softly looking down on your resting figure. You turn your head to meet his eyes. His loving smile morphs into a wide grin and a quiet, unbelieving chuckle leaves his lips.
”Hi.”
At his greeting, a chuckle leaves your lips, too. Your voice is scratchy when you reply, but he doesn’t seem to mind one bit.
”Hey.”
Quite the opposite, you imagine his eyes turning even softer now that he reaches out his hand to brush your hair out of your face and softly pet your head.
In the position, you find yourself in with him halfway leaning over you from behind and your head turned to look up at him, you can’t help but notice the close proximity the two of you are in.
With your gaze you caress his face, tracing over his straight nose and rose-colored mouth. Your eyes stay there, focusing on the shape of it, wondering what he would feel and taste like against your own lips.
His hand comes to rest beside your cheek as he notices the blush on your face and a dreamy look in your eyes. He notices the delicate flattering of your eyelashes as you slowly blink. He notices the way you unconsciously lick your bottom lip. And he smiles. He smiles because of how lovable you, his soulmate, look on this very first day of waking up and being with you. He smiles because of the fact that he is the one to bring you into this state where you seem to forget everything around you.
You biting your lip brings Hendery to now, too, let his eyes flicker down to your mouth. Your gaze is still focused on his soft smile that slowly seems to fade as he begins to lean down, closer to your twisted body.
His thumb starts to run along your cheek as his hand still rests on the couch beside your face.
With his rose-colored lips opened slightly, he searches for your eyes to lock with his. Unmoving he waits for your stare to find his dark pupils before he sees the longing in them. The longing he, too, feels, evident now on his face in form of a slight blush.
His thumb stops moving on your cheek the moment his soft lips meet your own.
All of your thoughts are gone in a second. In the next moment, they start to run wild.
Kissing him feels like coming home. It feels like a warm meal waiting for you after a long day at work. It feels like whispers and secrets in a starry night. Like cuddles and kisses in front of a warm fire. Like feeling the support of someone important to you. Like loving and being loved. It feels like it’s meant to be.
Your lips mold perfectly with his as Hendery slowly starts to move his mouth. It’s a lazy kiss, filled with emotion and the need to just feel the presence of the other. It’s to feel that your soulmate is here, really here, right under the fingertips that run across your cheek and right under the fingertips that curl in the nape of his neck to pull him a little closer.
Your eyes stay closed when Hendery pulls away to take a breath. Your hand falls back across your chest, still blissed out of what just happened.
You just kissed your soulmate. It wasn’t your first kiss, but it definitely felt like it. It made you feel like a high school girl, being close to her crush for the very first time. It wiped your mind, ignited a small, blazing fire that warms your stomach and heart and it let thousands of thoughts run across your mind, but you couldn’t catch them as they were way too fast.
Shuffling around in between his arms you turn your body to lie flat on your back, facing Hendery, who was still hovering above you.
When you open your eyes again you’re met with a blush across his cheeks and a smug look on his lips as he realizes what he can do to you with a simple, lazy kiss.
His voice isn’t very loud in the quiet apartment, but it still burns the spoken words into your brain.
”Can I kiss you again? Pretty please?”
The smug look stays on his lips, with a loving look in his dark eyes.
He runs his pointer finger across your cheek, the bridge of your nose and your other cheek, tracing the blush that appeared when the silence was broken and you can only nod.
His hand cups your face gently, still propped up on his other elbow and his legs tangled with your own. Your eyelids flutter, he dips down again and lets his lips brush over yours for a second before pulling away.
Your eyebrows furry at the teasing (which he finds to be extremely beautiful) and your eyes stay closed, a small noise of dislike for the peck you wouldn’t even dare to call a kiss, leaving your lips. Hendery grins at your cuteness but quickly brings his mouth down on yours again, already too addicted to you to stay away for long.
With the hand cupping your cheek he angles your face, turning your head to kiss you better and easier.
He softly nibbles on your lower lip and a whimper leaves your mouth. With the noise escaping you, your fingers find their way back into his long hair and gently pull on the dark strands at the bottom of his neck. Both of your mouths are opened a little, feeling the warmth spreading from your face down to the tip of your toes. Your bottom lip pulsates from his delicate bites and you feel like you could kiss him like this forever.
More kisses follow this lazy one, each one of them makes you feel desperate for the future you can imagine with your soulmate.
You exchange small whispers throughout the morning on the couch, Hendery already planning out your first date and the next 15 after that, new ideas constantly coming to his mind. At some point he decides to turn the TV on, the movie making the two of you spend the entire Saturday on the couch, tangled together underneath the blankets.
Both of you quiet down for a while, just enjoying the feeling of each other beside you.
You speak up again, interrupting Hendery in pressing delicate, feathery kisses to your cheek and neck.
”Penny for your thoughts?”
He only thinks for an insignificant second before answering, his voice barely above a whisper, his breath fanning over your ear.
”I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, ——.”
