We make templates for Simply Plural. We're... passable at it, I think.
You can request whatever you want, as long as it's for Ampersand or Simply Plural. We don't make PK templates, but some of our SP templates may work for it with minimal effort. If you want a template optimized for desktop viewing, let us know!
Guidelines under the cut!
- Anyone can use our templates and interact. We support plurality in all of its forms!
- If someone asks where you got a template, link them back here!
- If we have a credit link somewhere in the template, keep it there (feel free to move it, though!)
- Feel free to use our templates as inspiration. We'd appreciate being mentioned as a source of inspiration somewhere, if possible
- Modify our templates as much as you'd like! Feel free to combine them with other creators' templates as well, if they allow it. If our template becomes unrecognisable, you can remove the credit link and may consider us a source of inspiration rather than the creator of the template.
- Likes and/or reblogs are appreciated, but absolutely not required for use!
- Any large similarities between our templates and someone else's are generally coincidental. While I'm sure our template style is influenced by what we see, we never take direct inspiration. If you feel one of our templates is too similar to one of yours, feel free to reach out.
hi hello,,, would you mind making an appearance custom field template ? we're struggling with making one we like :( this is the vibe we've got going on if that helps
Here you go! Doesn't exactly match what you've got going on, but I got tired of fiddling ^^;
C&P in comments!
Extra notes: The symbols ꒰ა໒ are respectively Yi radical, Georgian, and Lao symbols. If you're not comfortable using symbols from potentially closed languages, I recommend replacing them.
Extra Notes: My sincerest apologies for being a light theme user. The latter 2 images I was iffy on, but idk. I think I like em, especially if you use something that won't look awkward centered like that. Lmk if something's wonky, having a rough day cognitively.
i feel like hardly anyone else uses primarily/solely laptop to make sp templates which is really funny. why are the templates all so itsy bitsy. y'all are noooot feeding them enough
Extra Notes: Relationship fields template here. We have individual headings for in sys, out of sys, and exomemory relationships. For cleanly wrapped text, use 6 invisible spaces at the beginning of the new line. I recommend putting front triggers in a separate, private field.
not a req but do you have any tips on making good, but simple, bios? we've always had trouble with spacing and getting images to work cause it's just...finicky...
~ 💚🎮
We aren't super great at instructions/tips, so sorry if this isn't helpful! This is rather long, so I've put it under a cut.
Anyway, yes. Very finicky. We tend to just... mess with things until they work, to be fully honest! Creating the initial template can be frustrating because of that, but it's very rewarding to see it fully implemented.
The "⠀" symbol is pinned to both our mobile and desktop clipboard (gboard + the windows clipboard both have pinning features!), and it's been quite a time saver. If spacing is just a smidge off, we'll toss in a regular space. Oftentimes that'll fix it! You can't do more than one in a row generally, so sometimes you do have to live with things being slightly off.
As far as images go, I'd say to pay close attention to the aspect ratio of the image you're using. If you want to space everything with "⠀", then your image should probably be the same aspect ratio as the size you're making it (ie., if you want something to be 30x50, your image could be 60x100, 300x500, etcetera). If you want to use the image itself for spacing, you can mess with that a bit! I recommend starting with it "fit" to the aspect ratio, if that makes sense? And then from there you can add to either the vertical or horizontal dimensions to create space around the image. The spacing will be on both sides, which it wouldn't be if you were using "⠀".
If you don't know how to resize images, it's like this:

I also recommend making use of placehold.co, since you can get placeholders of any size extremely easily. Typing "https://placehold.co/250x250.png" will get you an image of those dimensions, and you can input whatever you want. Very helpful for figuring out what dimensions you want in the space before you commit to an image!
I know you didn't ask about them, but I feel I need to bring up symbols!! We really can't recommend enough having a "bank" of your favourite symbols saved somewhere, either in your clipboard, notes app, simply plural template profile notes, etcetera. We keep a few different box drawing symbols (what we use for dividers and symbol indentation) alongside some more snazzy decorative symbols, and generally pull from that bank whenever making a new template for ourselves. It makes things feel very cohesive!
I would add visuals for this, but I am far too anxious to fiddle right now. If someone requests an addition with some visual guides, I'll see about making them!
Extra info: Spacing on this one is annoying. You could either just remove it and have it be left aligned, or you'll have to fiddle with the blank spaces.
more notes than i think we've ever gotten on a post (TWICE??), which is funny considering this blog has less than a fifth of the following of our most popular blog.
I really like the code blocks, the scrolling is neat. Not sure how I feel about the overall... vibe? It's somewhat minimalistic, and I've always appreciated sections for longer text, but I don't know how much that actually appeals to people. I may work on it more, post it as is, or not post it at all. Not sure!
We'd love to get a few suggestions/requests! We have a few more of our personal templates to post, but having ideas to work off of for new temps is always nice :)
