Derek would always linger after the other guys in the hall after getting back from a fire call putting equipment away or finding menial tasks to occupy his time until the changeroom had emptied out. To most it looked like he was just very fastidious about keeping everything organized, but in reality he wanted to keep his proclivity for wearing tighty whities under wraps after having made the mistake of wearing them infront of the guys before and being mocked mercilessly. He got by that time by claiming it was laundry day, but didn’t want to take the risk of them knowing those were the main types of underwear he wore.
