START AND DON’T STOP
I was never really the bulky type of person. During my younger years I am that skinny small thing in front of every line in school. I never gained weight no matter how large my appetite was. I’ve always been the lean type. Or so I thought. Years of working and I started gaining weight. At first, I was happy because that has always been my wish. Until I noticed that it’s getting harder to find good-fitting clothes. I started giving away my pants because it doesn’t fit me anymore. I began sucking it in during photo-ops. I started hating taking close up photos because my face will definitely take almost half of it. All it took was a single really bad photo of me, topless. I forgot to suck it in. And there it is, my beer belly and all its glory. So I started my journey to gain that 28-inch waistline that I used to have. I started working out. I carefully watched what I eat and started my journey back to my healthier self. 10 TIPS TO WEIGHT LOSS 1. Start. You don’t need a very specific goal. Sometimes a very precise goal will only cause frustration. Just start. 2. Avoid weighing scales. People may not agree with this but it works, at least for me. I never need validation from a weighing scale to keep me motivated. Value real people’s comment rather than what was on that piece of hardware. 3. Cut off your soda intake. This did a lot for me. When I started getting fit again, I decided to stop drinking soda. And mind you, it takes a lot of selfcontrol specially for me who can gulp in a 1.5L of soda in one seating. This is the closest to dieting that I did. I never gave up my rice intake. 4. Surround yourself with people that motivate you to keep moving. Enroll in a gym nearest to you and started befriending everyone. Ask your newly found friend about their fitness routine and try them yourself. Find what’s best for you. 5. Shuffle your workout routines. Do not do the same exercise over and over again. Your body will get used to it and will not give you noticeable results. 6. Do sports. Think of that one sport than you have wanted to learn and start learning it. Volleyball has always been a sport that I want to do but don’t have the guts to actually play it since I don’t have any training. So I look for a volleyball group around my area and started attending their weekly games. That breaks the monotony of my gym workout. 7. Have some fitness equipment in your house. This way you have no excuse when you are too lazy to go to the gym. A pair of free weights and kettle bells will do. 8. Take selfies or body check photos. ☺ I know this might sound narcissistic but it will help you boost your morale. Post it on social media and enjoy every “like” and “comment” that you will get. Be it good or bad, take it constructively. ☺ 9. Start inspiring others to live a healthier life also. This way you will be too ashamed to quit because you know that someone looks up to you as an example. You don’t want to disappoint them, right? 10. And finally, don’t stop. Just don’t stop.
